BreakOUT *Fighting the criminalization of LGBTQ youth in New Orleans, LA*

01/15/2026

Trans Day of Visibility serves as a vibrant reminder of the power of allyship and support for marginalized communities navigating a maze of challenges across various spheres like the criminal system, immigration, reproductive rights, housing, education, violence, and healthcare access. Let’s raise our voices in solidarity for the protection of our trans and q***r family worldwide!

We deserve all of the good things coming for us and we are glad to celebrate this day with all our trans siblings and those who love us. We're not free till we're all free!

We know we are stronger together. When times get hard it's time to join together and hold each other in strength and vulnerability. Join us for a candlelight vigil honoring Nex Benedict and other victims of anti-transgender and anti-non-binary violence this Thursday at the Greenway Station on Lafitte's Greenway. We will gather on Thursday 2/29 from 6:30 - 8 pm and hold space for all who wish to speak or share in other ways (poetry, music, dance, all forms of expression are welcome).

There will also be a temporary altar in honor of those lost to anti-LGBTQ2IA+ violence created towards the beginning of the vigil. Please feel free to bring photos, flowers, or other additions for the altar. After, the New Orleans Pride Center will be open for additional heart sharing if needed. If you have questions or would like to be involved with the organizing of this event please email [email protected].
