Made through extensive historical research and innovative AI-assisted artistry, this one-of-a-kind work imagines a moment in Lafayette's journey that has never before been documented in artwork.

✨ Some things are worth repeating. ✨

While searching through the archives, we stumbled across these gems from a 1975, when “Lafayette” was welcomed to our beloved Hermann-Grima Historic House! 🇫🇷🇺🇸

Now, nearly 50 years later, as America marks its 250th anniversary, we’re welcoming him back once again.

Join us this Saturday at 8:30 PM at Hermann-Grima Historic House for an unforgettable evening beneath the twinkling courtyard lights, historic charm, and a touch of nostalgia.

Members welcome!

Here’s to history, and a very special night with HGGHH !

Today was a butter-making kind of day at the Hermann-Grima Historic House! 🧈✨

We were thrilled to welcome campers from The Historic New Orleans Collection Camp for a tour of the house and grounds. One of the highlights of their visit was stepping into our original, fully functioning 1831 open-hearth kitchen and trying their hand at making butter the old-fashioned way.

No fire was needed today, just plenty of shaking power, teamwork, and enthusiasm! 💪🥛 After lots of hard work (and a few tired arms), the campers got to see cream transform into fresh butter, just as it would have been made centuries ago.

Thank you to our wonderful visitors for spending the day with us and helping bring history to life, one shake at a time! ❤️

🎨✨ AUCTION NOW OPEN! ✨🎨

Bidding begins TODAY, and runs through June 14 at 5:00 PM, on this extraordinary one-of-a-kind canvas:

"Lafayette Arrives at the Chalmette Battlefield, April 10, 1825"
by John Scurich

Nearly 200 years ago, General Gilbert du Motier, Marquis de Lafayette, returned to Louisiana during his celebrated Farewell Tour of America. On April 10, 1825, Lafayette arrived at the Chalmette Battlefield aboard the steamboat Natchez, where he was greeted by Louisiana Governor Henry Johnson, local dignitaries, veterans, and grateful citizens honoring the French hero who helped secure American independence.

This remarkable canvas captures a moment that has been preserved in historical accounts but had never before been visually depicted. Created by historian and artist John Scurich, the work combines extensive historical research with modern AI tools to bring this scene to life with extraordinary attention to detail—from the correct version of the Natchez steamboat to the historically accurate American flag flying over the celebration.
