Donnie Carl Mansfield departed this life on Sunday, October 4, 2026 at the age of 64. Son of Odeal E. Williams and the late Harry Mansfield, Jr. Father of Donnie, Jr., Donica and Donnisha Mansfield and Zyekitia Parker. Two bonus daughters; Ashley and Zyeta Parker and a bonus son Rodney Parker. Brother of Dwayne Mansfield, Sr., Robin M., Snowton, Terri M., Poindexter (Charles). Grandfather of Donnie Smith, Kasey Cockerham, Kaley, Kyndall, Daize, Knowledge, Klover Mansfield and seven bonus grandchildren. He also survived by one God daughter; Branae Franklin, mother of his children; Cherry Brooks and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Carol Clark Butler entered eternal rest on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at the age of 74 as a resident of New Orleans. Carol is survived by her daughter; Shanna Clark Garcia and a niece Katrina Smith also raised as her daughter. She is the wife of the late Will Butler; Sister of Christiana Smith and Eldora Watson. Carol is daughter of the late Mr. Landrum and Dorthy Wilson Watson; grandmother of Thaddues Harris Ikeen Clark, Bruce Harris, Oscar Gracia, Jr., Shemecka, Albeyan Heildelberg, and Takeia Garcias; great-grandmother of 5, also a loving Godmother of Tevis Stukes. Marva Marguerite Laurent passed away on October 7, 2026, at the age of 90. Born on June 19, 1936, she was the youngest of seven children and the only daughter of the late Milfred Laurent Sr. and Thelma Mathieu-Laurent.

Marva was a college graduate and dedicated educator who devoted her career to the education and development of children. She was also a self-published poet who enjoyed writing, dancing, classic Western films, and spending time at the senior center.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Joseph Bullock; and her brothers, Milfred Laurent Jr., Joseph Laurent Sr., Earl Laurent, Anthony Laurent Sr, and Verdell Laurent Sr.

She leaves to cherish her memory of her brother, Floyd Laurent Sr, son, Curtis Trufant, and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Poplous, Estelle Louise entered eternal rest on Monday, October 5, 2026, at the age of 76. She was a lifelong native of N. O. LA. Estelle was a licensed Cosmetologist for more than fifty years. Estelle is survived by her sons; Troy R. Poplous, and Freddie L. Nicholas, Jr.; siblings, Calenthia Bartholomew and Karen Anderson-Stancil, and the late Joseph (Barbara), Clyde, and Reginald Anderson; devoted cousin; Deborah Norwood; nephew, Byron A. Green; sister-in-law Anna Marie Poplous, and a host of other relatives and many dear and beloved friends.

Nathaniel Gaten, Sr. peacefully transitioned to his heavenly home on September 24, 2026, in New Orleans, Louisiana. A loving father and faithful servant of God, his life was a testament to his dedication, service, and love. On October 11, 1949, George Gaten Sr. and Lacey Jones Gaten were blessed with the birth of their precious son, Nathaniel. Growing up, Nathaniel was surrounded by family, faith, and love.
Nathaniel graduated from Roosevelt High School and Southern University A&M College. He worked for many years as an engineer at Grace King High School and also worked as a longshoreman. A man of tremendous faith and strong spiritual convictions, Nathaniel dedicated his life to serving God. He was a kind and caring man who touched countless lives, offering prayers, comfort, and encouragement to all he encountered.
Nathaniel is survived by his children: Lisa Wade (Cedar Hill, TX); Nathasa (Demetrius) Gaten Duncan (Cedar Hill, TX); Nathaniel (Chantan) Gaten Jr. (New Orleans, LA); Daryll (Toka) Woods (New Orleans, LA); and Jarmiah Gaten Sr. (New Orleans, LA).
He also leaves to cherish his memory his grandchildren: Dimitri Gaten Sr., Daisha Wade, and DaKyra Nealy (Cedar Hill, TX); Shavonda and Shavonn Mosey (Spring, TX); Jarmiah Gaten Jr., Threse Woods, Trece Woods, Darryll Woods Jr., Demetrius Theophile, Devonte Duncan, Natkeitha Allen, and Vonn Allen (New Orleans, LA); and De’Marian Duncan (Orlando, FL). Celebrating the Life of Mary Victoria Messiah Randolph

Lincoln Joseph Alexis was born on March 19, 1946 to Lincoln Alexis, Sr., and Addie (Wilcox) Alexis in New Orleans, Louisiana. He attended and graduated from Xavier Preparatory High School in 1964 and attended Xavier University of Louisiana before working successfully in sales for Kraft Foods. He also assisted with the operation of an in-home daycare that provided professional child care for several generations of children in New Orleans East. He ultimately operated his own contracting and construction business securing numerous commercial contracts including the Louis Armstrong (Moisant) International Airport in Jefferson Parish. Lincoln was a devoted father and enjoyed spending quality time and high holidays with his daughters, Lesley Ann and Angela Maria, both of whom completed pharmacy degrees from Xavier University through their father’s support and encouragement. Following Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Lincoln relocated to Lafayette, Louisiana and recently returned to New Orleans with his daughter, Lesley.

Lincoln will be remembered for his gregarious personality, his infectious smile, and his kind, fun-loving spirit. He loved music and the joyous life that is experienced in New Orleans.
