JOIN US THIS FALL FOR FREE AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMMING! 📚🎓

Scholars will receive an individualized academic evaluation and be matched with highly qualified tutors who will address their specific learning needs, close academic gaps, strengthen essential skills, and improve grade-point performance. In addition to homework assistance and academic support, scholars will participate in holistic programming designed to promote financial literacy, health and wellness, personal development, and other essential life skills.

The Junior Board hosted their 3rd Annual Serving Up Hope Pickleball Tournament this spring and it was a SMASHING success! The event raised over $12,000 for the scholars of Hope Ignites New Orleans.

👏 Congratulations to the 2026 RESOLVE NOLA Community Impact Grant recipients!
On behalf of the New Orleans Mental Health Collaborative, we are pleased to announce the award of $100,000 in grants to support organizations serving youth and families living in communities of chronic poverty most impacted by collective trauma and community violence. These investments will help expand services, strengthen community-based support systems, and create pathways to healing for young people and their families.

Greg recently attended EnvisionU, a program for rising Hope Ignites seniors. EnivisonU is a weeklong immersive experience designed to help scholars explore post‑secondary pathways and life beyond high school. Hosted at St. John's University in New York City, EnvisionU gives students an authentic taste of college life—living in residence halls, eating on campus, managing schedules, and navigating daily campus routines.

Dr. Kim Rugon, Executive Director, accepted an award on behalf of Hope Ignites New Orleans from the United Way of Southeastern Louisiana 2026 RESOLVE Community Impact Awards.

Hope Ignites was commended for our dedication to improving the health and well-being of the children in the community and advancing community-based mental health, wellness, and resilience. In addition, Hope Ignites also received a monetary award that will enable us to continue expanding access to vital mental health services, strengthen social-emotional supports for our scholars and families, and further our mission of helping young people overcome barriers to success. This recognition affirms our commitment to building a healthier, more resilient community and investing in the long-term well-being and future success of the youth.

Hope Ignites New Orleans has launched the summer pilot for our Academy program! Our current residential scholars and four young people from the Greater New Orleans area are our first cohort. Board Member Sandy Duplantier and his wife, Suzie, put on a cooking demonstration for the scholars, walking them through each step. The scholars loved the experience and got to enjoy the fruits of their labor, pasta, a shrimp and rice dish, and chocolate chip cookies!

The Academy will fully launch this fall. We are so excited to expand our impact to more young people in New Orleans!
