HIV Testing & Prevention Advisory Board Member:
You have been selected to serve on our HIV Testing and Prevention Program’s (HTP) Community Advisory Board (CAB) because of your expertise and commitment to reducing the rates of HIV in our community. As a member of the CAB we will rely on your insight, expertise and life experiences to guide the directions of our HTP programs. Our program consists o
f four key core components: Targeted HIV Testing; Linkage to Care; Prevention for both HIV Positive and High Risk HIV negative individuals; and Condom Distribution. We have two interventions that we are implementing to assist us with our work, ARTAS and PROMISE. Antiretroviral Treatment and Access to Services (ARTAS) is our linkage to care intervention, this individual-level curriculum provides us with guidance on linking individuals who have been recently diagnosed with HIV or who have been out of care into a medical system of care. Our PROMISE (Peers Reaching Out and Modeling) program is a community-level strategy that relies on role model stories from members of the community and peer advocates to distribute these role model stories and risk reduction supplies (such as condoms, information about PrEP, female condoms, dental dams, etc). Peer advocates also engage their community in the conversation surrounding reducing behaviors that increase risk for HIV as well as the HIV care continuum (how people living with HIV go through medical care from initial diagnoses to achieving a low level of the HIV virus in their bodies). Safe Spaces Advisory Board of Directors:
Community and academic partners with expertise in a broad range of areas related to (IPV), maternal and child health, and community engagement. The main charge of the advisory board is to develop a strategic direction for the Safe Spaces project, and advise on research methodology. We seek to build capacity in communities. We will aim to serve and include people of all racial/ethnic backgrounds, while acknowledging legacies of slavery, historical trauma, and white supremacy.
