Joan Of Arc Project The Joan of Arc Parade walks every January 6th on Joan of Arc's birthday. The Krewe de Jeanne d'Arc hosts additional events throughout the year.

The purpose of the Joan of Arc Project is to honor and celebrate Joan of Arc’s life in unique artistic and educational ways, including the production of the annual Joan of Arc Parade and Salon de Jeanne d’Arc. The Krewe de Jeanne d’Arc seeks to keep Joan’s story and spirit alive by hosting events, workshops, and presentations that illuminate Joan’s heroism and timelessness, while connecting her to the French heritage and pride of New Orleans. “The Maid of Orleans” inspires citizens of New Orleans and people around the world; we welcome people of all faiths and backgrounds to join in our joyous, New Orleans-style revelry.

⚜️Krewe de Jeanne d'Arc needs volunteers!⚜️

Want to be part of the Joan of Arc parade on January 6th? We're looking for volunteer foot soldiers!

Foot soldiers help with the functional side of the parade, from carrying banners and guiding props to walking security along the route. You'll even get to borrow a medieval costume to wear!

The best part? Foot Soldiers get to walk in the parade for *free* and are included in most krewe festivities! You can attend all of our free events and purchase tickets to krewe-exclusive events at the member price.

🛡️ You must be at least 16 years old.
🛡️ Costumes must be picked up in advance.
🛡️ Volunteers should arrive on time, follow directions, and return their costumes to the props truck after the parade.

If you’d like to get involved, meet fellow artists, and experience our one-of-a-kind parade from a different perspective, we’d love to have you!

Timely! Our next book club discussion is indeed about Agincourt!

We will meet Nov 7 at 10 am at The Columns Hotel to discuss Dr. Michael Livingston’s book “Agincourt: Battle of the Scarred King.”

Details here: https://joanofarcparade.org/joan-of-arc-book-club/

in 1415, King Henry V led his tired, outnumbered troops to an unlikely victory at the Battle of Agincourt.

Facing a much larger French force, Henry’s army, nearly 80% archers, turned the muddy fields to their advantage, with English longbows cutting down French knights in waves.

Against all odds, Agincourt became one of England’s most celebrated victories, boosting morale back home and solidifying Henry’s reputation as a warrior king.

? Legend has it that after the Battle of Agincourt, English archers taunted the French with a two-finger salute. The French had threatened to cut off these fingers if they captured any English bowmen, so in classic English style, the archers waved them proudly, as if to say, “Still got ‘em!” Though it started as a show of defiance, that two-finger gesture is now considered quite rude… so use with caution!

Eligibility: This contest is open to young women, 16-19 years old (the ages of Joan’s most notable feats and trials), who have shown unique leadership abilities and are currently or have recently studied French in high school, college, or at home. (The candidate must be able to speak some French in conversation and represent Joan in media opportunities, public presentations, and travel to our sister city of Orleans.) This contest does not discriminate based on race, religion, national origin, ancestry or creed.

Zoom Interviews: The three top candidates will complete a Zoom interview in English with Krewe de Jeanne d’Arc leaders, and then a phone interview in French with a member of the Consulate General of France in New Orleans’ team, to assess poise, confidence, grace, and French fluency so we may choose the best possible candidate to represent Joan of Arc in our parade, and throughout the year at local, national, and international events.
