Call for Artists 🌿 Oretha Castle Haley Cultural Corridor

The Activating the Oretha Castle Haley Cultural Corridor project is back in motion! We’re relaunching with a Call to Artists for permanent public art along Oretha Castle Haley Boulevard.

In partnership with Civic Studio (.coop), this opportunity supports the creation of 1-3 permanent, site-specific artworks rooted in community voice, history, and place.

Request for Qualification (RFQ) due April 29, 11:59pm CST. In person and online info sessions are available.

Arts New Orleans and Dancing Grounds invite you to Shifting Grounds: A Family Day Celebrating Public Art and Dance

⏰ 11 AM–3 pm | Unveiling Ceremony begins at 1 pm

Part of the 11th Annual Dance for Social Change Festival, this youth-led celebration explores mental health, nature, art, and community—culminating in the unveiling of two permanent public artworks commissioned through the City of New Orleans Percent for Art Program.

✨ "Pause Here the Land is Speaking" by Jamar Pierre and Young Artist Movement (YAM)
✨ "The Mirage" by Trinity Barriere

Mosaic seating inspired by wetlands and a sculptural series of painted birdhouses come together as interactive works rooted in ecology, memory, and community.

Beyond the unveilings, this free event will feature youth performances and family-friendly interactive activities.

The faces of Light Bearers ✨

A mural project created in 2023-2024, honoring the Flambeaux Carriers and the legacy of Black Mardi Gras traditions.

Led by Artist Journey Allen () with 24 Young Artist Movement artists. Tech facilitation by Gabby Tolliver () and Monica Kelly (), funded by Apple.

🎨 Community Paint Day Recap

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Community Paint Day! It was such a joyful afternoon of creativity, connection, and shared purpose as neighbors of all ages came together to paint birdhouses for “The Mirage” - an upcoming sculpture at the Audubon Louisiana Nature Center ().

A special shout-out to paris cian, our Public Art Manager, for leading this effort in collaboration with Trinity Barriere’s artist team (.trinsic), our talented YAM alumni (.is.yam), and partners at the Audubon Louisiana Nature Center, Downtown Fabworks (), and Dancing Grounds ().

Additional thanks to the community supporters who helped make the day so special with food, beverages, music, and gathering space: Contemporary Arts Center (), Wolf Espresso (.espresso), D**g Phuong (), and Antwigadee ().

The project continues with the upcoming unveiling in April 2026, including a special collaboration with Dancing Grounds as part of the celebration. “The Mirage” will unveil alongside the Mosaic Furniture project by Jamar Pierre ().

Arts New Orleans is seeking a Grantmaking Specialist (Part-Time) to support the administration of city- and state-funded regranting programs.

This role plays a key part in managing grant cycles, coordinating panels, maintaining records, and serving as a point of contact for applicants and grantees.

Applications are accepted through January 28, 2026, or until the position is filled.
