When Larry Barabino, Jr. became CEO, it wasn’t the beginning of his NORD story. It was the latest chapter in a journey that had already spanned decades.
Growing up, Larry participated in NORD programs. Later, he coached on NORD fields, worked in rec centers, helped lead the rebuilding of the organization after Hurricane Katrina, and ultimately served as CEO.
There is no one else whose NORD story looks quite like his.
That unique journey shaped the way he led. He understood firsthand the role parks, recreation, and community spaces play in bringing people together and creating opportunities for young people and families.
As CEO, Larry helped guide NORD through a period of growth and investment, expanding programs, improving parks and facilities, strengthening opportunities for teens, opening new recreational spaces, and continuing to create places where New Orleans residents of all ages can connect, play, learn, and thrive.
As he moves on to a new opportunity, we thank him for his leadership, dedication, and commitment to the people of New Orleans.
