On April 9, 2025, in celebration of the Lafayette Bicentennial, Spirit of ‘76 Chapter, NSDAR placed a plaque in the Cabildo in New Orleans, LA, and executed a soundscape in which Lafayette actually addresses the patron. Our plaque is the only plaque that has been allowed to be placed inside the Cabildo by an outside entity. Our exhibit was placed right beside the balcony where Lafayette reviewed the troops in what is now Jackson Square.

We were honored to have dignitaries from across the United States and France attend our event. The direct descendant of Lafayette, Virginie de Pusy Lafayette, his 5th generation granddaughter, was in attendance. Adding to the festivities was the Williamsburg actor who portrays Lafayette, Mark Schneider.
