I’m proud to share that HCR 44, my 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐮𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐨𝐮𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐚 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩 𝐚 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠, has passed 𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞 during the 2025 Legislative Session. 

This resolution specifically requests the LDH to change the recommended starting age for routine mammography 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝟒𝟎 𝐭𝐨 𝟑𝟎 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐥𝐝 for individuals at average risk. It also urges the development of a program within the Louisiana Breast and Cervical Health Program for early breast cancer screening beginning at age thirty.  

𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝐝𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐜𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 in the fight against breast cancer, and this initiative aims to improve outcomes for individuals at risk.

I’m grateful to my colleagues for recognizing the importance of this issue and supporting this resolution. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of many.
