Today, a blank canvas becomes something much bigger. 🎨💙

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month, and local artist Terrance Osborne joined pediatric cancer patients and their families at Children’s Hospital for a hands-on painting experience. The kids helped create the background of an original piece, then Terrance will bring it to life in his signature style.

And this story doesn’t end today.

The finished artwork will make its way to Shuck Cancer on November 19, where it will be displayed and auctioned in support of the American Cancer Society.

A piece created together, for a cause that brings us together. 🦪💙

Louisiana oysters at a Louisiana party? Exactly how it should be. 🦪

We’re excited to welcome to Shuck Cancer 2026!

Shelley Farms is a woman-owned, family-run oyster farm and the first oyster farm in Plaquemines Parish. Their premium oysters are hand-raised and harvested right here in the fertile waters of the Louisiana bayou.

This November, they’re bringing a taste of the bayou to Shuck Cancer for one unforgettable night of oysters, community and raising funds for the fight against cancer.

Come find them on the half shell. 🦪

Mel Gerrets was just 19 when he lost his dad to lymphoma, one month after Hurricane Katrina.

While his family was recovering from the storm, they were also trying to get to Houston, where his dad was receiving care at MD Anderson. It was an experience that showed Mel just how much cancer impacts not only the person diagnosed, but everyone who loves them.

That’s why access to care means so much to him. Transportation, lodging, and support can ease even a small part of the burden families are carrying.

And this year, Mel plans to be persistent about it. If you see him spreading his black and gold cheer, there’s a good chance he’ll also be telling you about Shuck Cancer. 💙🦪

Joe knows both sides of the cancer story.

His mother and grandmother are survivors. His grandfather was not. And over the years, he’s watched friends face both outcomes, too.

Those experiences are why Joe is stepping up as a 2026 Shucker Honoree. He’s shucking for the people still fighting, for better outcomes, and for the continued care and research that give more families hope.

Another killer addition to the 2026 lineup. 🦪

Raised in Alabama waters and tide-tumbled to perfection, Murder Point Oysters are the result of generations spent on the water and a whole lot of dedication to the craft.

This November, they’re bringing that Gulf Coast goodness to New Orleans for a night where incredible oysters meet an even greater cause.

A random act of kindness with a whole lot of purpose behind it.

Years ago, Kelley watched her best friend’s family rally around their father, Keith, as he fought cancer.

She saw the love it took to show up day after day. She also saw everything happening beyond the diagnosis: the sacrifices, the travel, the medical bills, and the financial pressure that can build even for families who think they’re prepared.

That experience stayed with her.

Now, as a 2026 Shucker Honoree, Kelley is turning it into action by raising funds to help ease some of that burden for other patients and families facing cancer.
