On yesterday October 23, 2024 in Baton Rouge 2,659 Black people showed up to early vote. We have 205,448 Black people in Baton Rouge.

Will you text this message to 10 Black people in your phone and ask them to early vote today? We can increase these numbers if everyone does a little.

Louisiana has 942,000 registered Black voters as of this morning only 125,560 Black voters have gone to vote. This is lower than average. Personal outreach is better than any campaign.

To be in the presence of Jerome “ Big Duck” Smith is to know you are in the presence of Superiority.

Big Duck is kind, humble, humorous, a visionary, a mentor, honorable, dignified, thoughtful, determined, and compassionate. Jerome is a father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and cousin to those who are blood-related and those who are spiritually connected to his life.

If you really know him I'm sure that you have a thousand more complimentary words to describe him.

Jerome is admired and loved all around the world. Every time I see him it's a pleasure to be in his company even if it is for a few minutes.

Note from the Executive Director

Louis Armstrong Family Services (LAFS) is the only program in the state of Louisiana that is focused on keeping homeless families together with adolescent boys, families without mothers as the head of household, families with larged amounts of children, families with handicap children or family members, families that do not look like the tranditional family.

Many families in New Orleans are expierencing a lack of financial stablility to maintain their household. From time to time in every neigborhood a family is in need of financial assistance for rent or untilities. Many parents have to work two or three jobs to pay the recently increased rents and utilites. They can not afford to miss work if a family member is ill or if unfortunately there is death in the family.

Once the family is seperated, there is a strong possibility that the family with never be able to live togheter. The family component is dismantled and the disfunction of the family extends to the disfunction of the community
