Want to learn more about coaching youth rugby? Join NOLA Gold player and youth rugby director Nick Feakes on Zoom this Thursday 8/13 or next Monday 8/17 for a free presentation to learn about our youth rugby coaching strategies and gain a firmer understanding of the game of rugby!

This presentation would be great for parents of kids who play rugby who want to learn more about the rules, an aspiring coach or just a person who wants to know more about the game of rugby in general.

The presentation is expected to last for 45-60 minutes.

Attention everyone!

I wanted to make it clear to any players and parents that as a result of the Governor's decision to extend Phase 2 that there will be NO YOUTH RUGBY tonight. I apologize for any confusion.

We will be eyeing a return to play once Louisiana has moved into Phase 3.

However, in the meantime, we will be exploring options to have interaction with the players, possibly an online fitness and activity session.

Also, if you have any friends that would be interested in participating in Youth Rugby, please encourage them to sign up! We do not want anyone to feel like it is too late to sign up simply because they did not attend the first session in March. So tell your friends!

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to directly message me Jonathan Giepert or call or shoot me an e-mail.

Thank you for your patience and we cannot wait to get back out on the pitch!

YOUTH RUGBY 101:

Youth Rugby is played between two teams with equal numbers of players on each team.

Each team contains no more than seven players and no less than four. Keep team numbers at or below 7v7! Youth Rugby is about learning and participation. More players on the field means less opportunity for each player to pass, run, catch, defend, and score.

The object of rugby is to advance the ball without the use of the forward pass (unlike football!) and touch the rugby ball down in the opposing team's end zone. A "score" in rugby is known as a "try".

Most importantly, since this is a youth rugby league, IT IS NOT TACKLE. This is a touch rugby league, although some variations include using flags.
