Join us in welcoming our brother Mustafa home! Alhamdulillah!

We had the privilege of meeting and getting to know brother Mustafa during his time inside-and now we are grateful for the opportunity to be a part of his life after incarceration! Brother Mustafa served as the imam in the prison where he was housed and always worked tirelessly to learn and promote Islam amongst his peers. Alhamdulillah! His service, leadership and mentorship had a huge impact in the lives of so many young Muslims.

He shared this after his first outing as a “free” man:

“…going with you to the Masjid was my first public outing. I was told to take baby steps. When entering the masjid it was a humbling experience that Allah had not only guided me to this way of life in prison but blessed me with the opportunity to establish my Islam in society…

Being around, and just listening to the imam as he explained the love of Allah made me forget about my struggles adapting back to society and focus on the most important thing— Loving Allah!

I can not help but see Allah guiding my life and the people he is putting in it. It was a motivating and humbling experience.”

From recipient to provider!

Meet Zayid! Zayid has been with us since day one! He came on as a housing client and is now serving as a house manager, van driver & peer transitional specialist! In addition to serving in these roles Zayid is also a small business owner. After a few months in the Ansar Project house he was able to start a carwash & detailing business and is now offering employment opportunities to recently released Muslims.

This is not an ad, but seriously, if you are in the New Orleans area, contact Zayid for all of your carwash & detailing needs!

When we visit our brothers & sisters inside one of the things we always tell them is…

“Don’t think that you’re just a part of this prison’s community…you all are members of THE COMMUNITY! You are one of the 2 billion Muslims around the world that Allah has favored with Islam.”

While this particular gathering of Muslims is one of the largest in the prison system here in Louisiana-EVERY prison across the state has similar gatherings of beautiful, striving Muslims!

Are we doing our best to be there for them, in word & in deed!? Alhamdulillah for the opportunity to be involved in their lives! And Alhamdulillah for the opportunity to do more to be involved in their lives! Join us in the work of doing our part as their brothers & sisters to ensure they have the support they need-both during and after incarceration!
