After months of empty promises of fair negotiations, RTA illegally revoked their union recognition of Local 100's new members. Riders are not pleased! CJ and Claudia know that RTA is overworking its employees, making it less safe and reliable to ride. Just a day before this, CJ waited TWO HOURS for his bus.

RTA employees' working conditions are bus riders' riding conditions. With members in administration, operations, safety analysis, and bus repair,Local 100 has concrete proposals for making buses safer.

Our RTA bargaining committee's safety proposals would create a quarterly labor-management meeting for union members to bring safety and other issues to management's direct attention, so we can find common solutions to problems that come up. Our members are hands on in all aspects of RTA's functioning--operations, planning, safety analysis, and maintenance--and no one is better positioned to be eyes and ears on the ground!

Our proposals also make sure that management isn't able to needlessly assign members to take on unsafe situations, or to operate buses that don't have proper safety equipment on board.

All workers have the right to join a union, to make demands for changes and improvements with 2 or more workers (the law calls it "CONCERTED ACTIVITY"), discuss your wages and conditions with co-workers, picket, and strike. No boss has the right to question or threaten you about your exercise of these rights.

At New Orleans' RTA, our unit of administrative and operations staff has four themes of contract proposals. One is making RTA a more family friendly place to work for everyone. We'll be proposing RTA have a clear 3 month paid family leave policy for new parents, provide dignified space for lactating mothers, and add additional bereavement leave for employees faced with losing family members.

Supreme Developers/Exceptional Temporaries Inc. is a contractor who employs janitors that clean the city of New Orleans' buildings--City Hall, Sewerage and Water Board, police precincts. Local 100 has a longstanding contract with Supreme/ETI. Janitors there only get 4 paid holidays, which means every holiday when city workers are paid to be home, these workers just lose a day of pay. As janitors have come together to try to change this, Supreme/ETI has responded with intimidation, unfair firings, and a refusal to bargain in good faith with the union.

Today we're announcing our efforts to get Supreme/ETI to STOP UNIONBUSTING and come to the table to bargain a fair deal for the people who keep New Orleans' buildings clean. Stay tuned!!

Supreme Developers/Exceptional Temporaries Inc. es un contratista que emplea a conserjes que limpian los edificios de la ciudad de Nueva Orleans: Ayuntamiento, Junta de Alcantarillado y Agua, recintos policiales. Local 100 tiene un contrato de larga data con Supreme/ETI. Los conserjes solo reciben 4 días festivos pagados, lo que significa que todos los días festivos cuando a los trabajadores de la ciudad se les paga por estar en casa, estos trabajadores solo pierden un día de pago. Mientras los conserjes se han unido para tratar de cambiar esto, Supreme/ETI ha respondido con intimidación, despidos injustos y negándose a negociar de buena fe con el sindicato.

Hoy estamos anunciando nuestros esfuerzos para lograr que Supreme/ETI DEJEN DE ELIMINAR SINDICATOS y vengan a la mesa a negociar un trato justo para las personas que mantienen limpios los edificios de Nueva Orleans. ¡¡Manténganse al tanto!!
