Hello friends, help us help our friend Peanut feed the block! Just drove by his pop up in the 7th ward giving out free red beans and rice to all the neighborhood struggling for over a week with no power. He’d like to keep setting up but he’s clear out of food now. Let’s keep this pop up going and buy some grocery love and good foods for them to cook up. If you venmo me i’ll head to costco in the morning and together we can keep this pop up poppin

We are out of money to continue distributing food for May!

We're proud of what we've accomplished already, but if we can pull together the funding, we'd love to keep the good work going!

In the month of April, we began with a goal of 20 food boxes a week and wound up serving a total of 185 fresh food boxes and Home cooked meals!

All was prepared and delivered by a team of over 20 volunteers, and funded by generous donations often in increments of 5 and 10 dollars. We were able to provide healthy food, safety, and the love that comes with knowing you're cared about, to community members with cancer, aids, compromised immune systems, physical disabilities, homelessness, and financial insecurity due to covid.

As we continue to reach out to businesses and grants (thank you BigEasy Bucha, Jazzmen Rice, and Aetna for your in kind donations!), we ask for your help in bridging the next few weeks. Our current food list is 121 community members and families, and we expect it to soon be over 200. We project we'll need 8,000 dollars to continue through all of May, but even 5 or 10 dollars helps!

Join us if you feel the call, contribute your time or money, and let's show how New Orleans pulls together in the face of hardship.

Friends and Family,

Many New Orleans Artists, Culture Bearers, and Service Industry Workers are eligible for thousands of dollars in federal support...yet won't receive it.

The difference between filling or not filling out a simple form can change an entire family's life for the better.

Beloved NOLA is offering a free service to answer questions about receiving your Unemployment and Stimulus Checks. *(We can also put you on our food distribution list or register you with one of our partner organizations)

Did you know-

*You don't need to file taxes to receive your 1,200 stimulus check?

*You are eligible for unemployment of 2,000 -3,000 dollars a month even if you are self employed, an independent contractor, artist, or gig-worker?

*If you are between homes or in a shelter and have no bank account, you can still receive your stimulus money?

Share this message, and if you have more questions or know someone who could use help to get registered for stimulus checks or unemployment, send us an email at [email protected] and a volunteer will contact you.

Thank you!

* Beloved NOLA is a 501C3 non-profit and alliance of Cultural Leaders. Our volunteers are community members doing their best to help and not professionally licensed workers.

Beloved NOLA: COVID RELIEF

Much love and health to everyone in these unexpected times.

Beloved NOLA is a cross cultural alliance of community leaders from across the spectrums of faiths, ancestry, and culture. We all share the belief that this journey around the sun looks different for everyone, and its by working together that we can help more people, in more ways.

Our Advisory Board runs the gamut from Methodist Ministers to Mardi Gras Indian Chiefs and Medicine Women, to Buddhists and even secular leaders of spirituality and community. In the healing of our peoples and this planet, we raise the funding and offer organizational support to the many ongoing projects of our advisory board, and help joint efforts such as summer camps, food initiatives, festivals, retreat centers, support groups, community centers, and more, all come together.

In this time of COVID, we are demonstrating the power of the people by coming together to deliver fresh and healthy food boxes to community members in need. We are also offering support and collaboration to other non profits, by connecting NOLA Wesley’s Labyrinth community space and to Familias Unidas, to provide the space out of which they are now serving hundreds of undocumented workers and their families every week.
