Thank you to all of our rescuers, food donors, nonprofit recipient partners, and supporters! Since 2020, we were able to redistribute 3,662 pounds of excess food to our neighbors in need. Unfortunately we have to close the New Orleans branch at this time, but hope food rescue continues in the area through other organizations.

Thank you to everyone who supported our GivingTuesday campaign yesterday! We surpassed our goal and broke our GivingTuesday fundraising record with a total of $192,592.70 raised. 100% of those funds will go towards our mission as we expand our service area, onboard new food donor and nonprofit recipient partners, drive education initiatives around hunger and sustainability, and build out our technology platform.

Celebrate RLC's 9th birthday with the gift of food! Today only, donations of $100 or more will be matched 30%-50% depending on the amount, as part of GlobalGiving's Bonus Day. With your help, we can reach our goal of $60,000 and secure $3,000 in matching funds.

Reaching our goal will let us deliver on our top priority for the rest of the year, which is to expand our service in the communities we are a part of. We will achieve this goal by building our staff, onboarding new food donors and nonprofit recipient partners, and expanding our volunteer base.

We are thankful for regular volunteers like Leah Evans.

"I'm an aspiring surgeon and food appreciator. Food is more than just food, especially in this city. Food is intrinsically linked to health, happiness and family. I could not think of a more worthy organization to get involved with. Plus, everybody needs a little King Cake in their lives!"

Thank you for helping us rescue over 30lbs of delicious king cake! We brought these goodies to our friends at to share with the community.

The king cake tradition comes to New Orleans from France. We enjoy it during Carnival season, between the Epiphany in early January and Ash Wednesday. There is a plastic baby hidden in each cake, and if your slice has the baby, you provide the cake for the next party.
