This is Nora Burns…She is six years old & lives in New Orleans. Nora has a loving mother and father, a brother, a puppy, she’s a ham, and she is loaded with personality. Nora Burns is no pushover!!
When she was four, she was diagnosed with Leukemia. If you count back 2 years, you know that puts us right in the crosshairs of the pandemic. There is no good timing for this diagnosis but, certainly to receive it during the pandemic is extraordinarily difficult.
Nora was cared for at Children's Hospital New Orleans, where she underwent treatment. Throughout the time of the pandemic, it was especially challenging because only one parent was allowed to be with Nora at a time.
If you look closely at these pictures though, you can imagine that Nora’s a tough nut to crack. She has endured the treatments (the treatments can be particularly tough on young kids) and is thriving today. We are glad to say that with the help of LLS, Nora is in remission. She requires ongoing monthly treatments because there is no real cure, but the treatments have been effective.
Nora, like so many others who are struggling with blood cancers, is the reason we are asking for your help. More success stories like Nora’s get us closer and closer to finding the cure.
Honor Nora, and join us in the battle by contributing to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
