Operation Clean Up is East Baton Rouge Parish's government effort to beautify and de-litter neighborhoods in the East Baton Rouge on April 24th. One of the big issues are abandoned car tires- the stagnant water breeds mosquitos, which are a nuisance and can carry diseases.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The Mississippi River began flowing 70 million years ago! This resulted in the Mississippi Delta, a vast flood plain that stretches from southern Missouri to northern Louisiana. Flood plains are vitally important for clean water, animal habitats, and can take on access water when it folds from a hurricane or heavy rainfall. This coastline is beautiful, and essential! The Louisiana coastline protects the state from hurricane storm surges and high wind speeds. 💨⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

While Louisiana currently has 3 million acres of wetlands, 75 square kilometers are disappearing every year. By 2040, 33 MILES of land will be underwater. How do we solve such a pressing issue? We promote coastline rehabilitation by planting trees! The coastlines need trees, and we need the coastlines. ♥️⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
