CT HOBY is Connecticut's chapter of the Hugh O' Brian Youth Leadership Organization. He challenged O'Brian to do something with his resources.

Founded in 1958, Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership was founded to motivate and empower individuals to make a positive difference within our global society through understanding and action based on effective and compassionate leadership. Actor Hugh O'Brian, who is famous for his portrayal of Wyatt Earp, was inspired by a visit to Dr. Albert Switzer the German doctor-missionary-theologian-musician. Switzer believed that the United States was the only place with the resources to solve the global issues of poverty and peace. And nearly 50 years and 345,000 alumni later, HOBY has become a global organization dedicated to molding high school sophomores into leaders. Its mission: to provide lifelong leadership development opportunities that empower individuals to achieve their highest potential.

✨ VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT: FRIDA ✨

Facilitator. Section Director. All-around HOBY extraordinaire. 💙🌎

Today we’re giving a BIG HOBY shoutout to Frida! 🫶

🌎 Leadership, to me, means…
Working alongside each other. 🤝

💙 One small way I can make my community better is…
Showing up fully, no matter what is going on around us.

💭 The best advice I’ve ever received is…
Never close a door. Accept even the smallest opportunities to keep moving forward.

And honestly? We think that’s pretty great advice. ✨

Frida, thank you for showing up, jumping in, leading alongside others, and making the HOBY magic happen in so many ways. We’re SO lucky you’re part of our HOBY family! 💙🌎

Drop some 💙💙💙 for Frida!

✨ SURPRISE SATURDAY VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT! ✨

Today, we’re shining a little extra light on Britney! 💙🌎

💭 Leadership, to me, means…
Making people feel seen, heard, and empowered to become the best version of themselves—but most importantly, inspiring them to recognize the leader they already have within themselves.

🌎 One small way I can make my community better is…
Being someone who makes others feel welcome, supported, and capable of making a difference! 💙

✨ The best advice I’ve ever received is…
“You are more than enough.” Take it one step at a time, one day at a time, and just keep showing up for yourself and others. 💭

Britney, thank you for showing up, making people feel seen, and reminding those around you that leadership isn’t something we have to go looking for—it’s something we can discover within ourselves. 💙

We’re so grateful you’re part of the CT HOBY family! 🌎💙

💙 VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT 💙

Meet Caroline! One of our incredible JSTAFF who helps make CTHOBY magic happen! ✨

🌎 Leadership, to me…means persevering through challenges and continuing to move forward, even when things get difficult.

💙 One small way I can make my community better is…volunteering with different organizations. Giving my time is one way I can give back and make a positive impact on others.

💭 The best advice I’ve ever received is: “Always believe in your abilities, because if you don’t believe in yourself, no one else will.”
