VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT & HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LUKE!

Today we're celebrating a birthday and recognizing one of the younger members of our Village Food Pantry family — Luke!

Luke has been volunteering with the Pantry for several years, and over that time we have watched him become someone we know we can count on. He is hardworking, dedicated, and never afraid to jump in and help wherever he is needed. Whether there's work to be done behind the scenes or during a busy distribution, Luke brings a willingness to serve that makes him a wonderful asset to our Pantry.

What makes Luke's story even more special is that service is truly a family affair. His parents, brother, and sister also give their time serving the community. It is always encouraging to see a family that understands the importance of giving back—and especially meaningful to see those values being carried forward by the next generation.

Luke may be one of our younger volunteers, but his contribution is anything but small. Several years of faithfully giving his time and energy have made a difference to our Pantry, our fellow volunteers, and the neighbors we serve.

Luke, on your birthday, we want you to know how much we appreciate you. Thank you for your hard work, your dedication, and for continuing to be such an important part of The Village Food Pantry family.

Please join us in wishing Luke a very Happy Birthday!

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT & HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BEA!

Today, we are celebrating someone who has been a faithful part of The Village Food Pantry for approximately 6–7 years—our very own Beatrice, lovingly known to all of us as “Bea.”

Bea is one of those people who shows up.

While working a full-time job, she still makes time to join us for our busy Wednesday evening distributions, helping wherever she is needed. And when the week is over for most people, you can often find Bea back at the Pantry on Saturdays—and sometimes Sundays—sorting, stocking, organizing, and helping prepare for another week of serving our neighbors.

Dependable, hardworking, caring, energetic, and always willing to jump in where needed, Bea brings something special to our Pantry team. She can make us laugh, keep things moving, and somehow always seems to know where she is needed most.

Six or seven years of service represents countless Wednesday evenings, weekends, boxes sorted, shelves stocked, neighbors served, and hours freely given to help others. That kind of dedication does not go unnoticed.

But something else makes this spotlight particularly special.

At The Village Food Pantry, we often say that our volunteers become family. With Bea, we don't have to say “like family”—she IS family. We're blessed that her commitment to family extends to the Pantry and the neighbors we serve.

The photos we're sharing today make that especially fitting. Along with a photo of our birthday girl, we're sharing Bea with her daughter, Eboni, and Bea with family member Micala—a little glimpse of the family surrounding someone who gives so much of herself to our Pantry family.

So today, we want to make sure Bea knows just how much she is appreciated.

Happy Birthday, Bea! Thank you for the years you have given, the work you continue to do, the laughter you bring, and for simply being someone we know we can count on.

We hope your birthday is filled with the same joy and kindness that you so freely give to others.

Happy Birthday from your Village Food Pantry family!

2026 HOLIDAY CLOSING SCHEDULE — PLEASE SAVE THESE DATES

As we move into the final months of 2026, The Village Food Pantry wants to make sure our neighbors have plenty of advance notice of our upcoming holiday closings.

We know many families plan their Pantry visits around work schedules, transportation, appointments, and other responsibilities. By sharing our holiday schedule now, we hope everyone can plan ahead and avoid making an unnecessary trip when the Pantry is closed.

Our remaining 2026 holiday closings are:

Labor Day — Monday, September 7
Columbus Day — Monday, October 12
Veterans Day — Wednesday, November 11
Thanksgiving Holiday — Thursday & Friday, November 26 & 27
Christmas Day — Friday, December 25

Please take a moment to save the attached flyer, take a screenshot, or share this post with someone who regularly visits the Pantry.

As we move into the fall and winter months, please also remember that The Village Food Pantry may close or adjust its hours due to inclement weather or unsafe conditions. We will announce any weather-related closures or schedule changes on our page.

We encourage our neighbors to check our page before traveling to the Pantry whenever severe or questionable weather conditions are expected.

Thank you for helping us share this information and for planning your Pantry visits accordingly.

A COMPASSIONATE RESOURCE FOR PET FAMILIES

For many of us, our pets are much more than animals—they are beloved members of our families. When the time comes to say goodbye, the loss can be heartbreaking. For a family experiencing financial hardship, the unexpected cost of caring for a beloved pet at the end of life can make an already difficult situation even harder.

The Village Food Pantry would like to share a community resource that may help.

Tammy Wynn, Owner and Founder of Angel's Paws, and her staff provide complete end-of-life services for pets. Their message says it beautifully:

“We help make the hardest part of being a pet parent a little easier.”

Angel's Paws also has a nonprofit program that assists families experiencing financial hardship with end-of-life services for their pets.

If you are facing the loss of a beloved pet and are concerned about the cost, you are encouraged to reach out to Angel's Paws. Their staff will help you navigate the process and determine whether you qualify for financial assistance.

For families who financially qualify, the cost of the cremation will be covered, and the ashes of your beloved pet will be returned to you.

There is dignity in being able to say goodbye to a faithful companion and have them returned home to you. We are grateful that this resource is available to help families who might otherwise struggle with that difficult decision.

For information or assistance, contact:

Angel's Paws
(513) 489-PAWS (7297)

Please get in touch with Angel's Paws directly for information about the program, eligibility, and available services.

We will include their informational card with this post for additional details.

A REMINDER TO OUR PANTRY NEIGHBORS — ESPECIALLY ON WEDNESDAYS

The Village Food Pantry is grateful for the opportunity to serve our neighbors each week. As the number of people visiting the Pantry continues to grow, we want to review our service hours and a few important procedures that help us provide a safe and orderly distribution.

REGULAR PANTRY HOURS

Monday: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Check-in closes at 12:50 PM

Tuesday: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Check-in closes at 12:50 PM

Wednesday: 4:30 PM – 6:30 PM
Check-in closes at 6:20 PM

Friday: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Check-in closes at 11:50 AM

Please remember that check-in closes 10 minutes before the end of each distribution period.

WEDNESDAY EVENINGS

Wednesday has become one of our busiest distribution periods. This past Wednesday, we served 112 neighbors in just two hours.

During this time, Pantry volunteers are working both inside and outside—directing traffic, managing the parking lot, organizing the line, controlling entry into the building, and assisting with food distribution.

To help us serve everyone safely and efficiently, we ask for your cooperation with the following:

PLEASE DO NOT BLOCK THE MARATHON GAS STATION

Vehicles waiting to enter the Pantry parking lot cannot block the Marathon Gas Station driveway on the Riverside Drive side. Their customers must be able to safely enter and leave the property at all times.

If your vehicle is blocking the Marathon driveway, you will be asked to circle around. Before moving forward in the line of traffic, please make sure there is enough room for your ENTIRE vehicle to completely clear the Marathon driveway. If there is not enough room, please remain where you are until you can move forward without blocking the driveway.

The Marathon driveway must remain completely open at all times.

PLEASE REMAIN IN YOUR VEHICLE

Once you enter the Pantry parking lot, please remain in your vehicle until a Pantry volunteer directs you to exit and join the line. Volunteers are coordinating the flow of neighbors from the parking lot into the Pantry, so please wait for their direction before getting out of your vehicle.

ENTERING THE PANTRY

For the safety and comfort of everyone visiting and volunteering at the Pantry, shirts and shoes must be worn to enter.

Please wait until a Pantry volunteer directs you to enter the building. This allows us to manage the number of neighbors shopping inside at one time and helps keep the distribution moving safely and efficiently.

PLEASE FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS OF OUR VOLUNTEERS

Our volunteers may provide instructions regarding traffic, parking, joining the line, or entering the building. We respectfully ask that you follow those directions.

During a busy distribution, particularly in the parking lot, a volunteer may need to speak loudly and directly to be heard over traffic, vehicles, and the activity around the Pantry. Please understand that speaking loudly enough to be heard should not be mistaken for “yelling” or being disrespectful.

If you are unsure about an instruction, please ask for clarification. We are happy to help.

PATIENCE AND MUTUAL RESPECT

We know there may be a wait, particularly on Wednesday evenings. We appreciate your patience as our volunteers work to serve each neighbor as efficiently as possible.

We expect our volunteers to treat everyone with courtesy, dignity, and respect, and we ask for that same courtesy and respect in return.

There is also no need to rush to be first in line. We work hard to serve our neighbors fairly throughout the entire distribution.

Thank you for your patience, cooperation, and understanding. By working together, we can maintain a safe and orderly environment while continuing to serve a large number of neighbors each week.

**VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT & HAPPY BIRTHDAY, RHIANNA!**

Today, we're shining our Volunteer Spotlight on **Rhianna** and wishing her a very Happy Birthday!

Rhianna joined The Village Food Pantry as a volunteer and quickly became a welcome part of our Monday team. She comes ready to work, lends a hand wherever she is needed, and has become another familiar face helping us serve our neighbors.

What makes Rhianna's story especially meaningful is that her connection to the Pantry extends beyond her own service. Her family has been part of our Pantry family for years, including her Aunt Barb, who has faithfully served alongside us for a long time. We love seeing that spirit of service continue from one family member to another.

And we're especially pleased that Rhianna has told us she plans to **continue volunteering with us on Mondays**. There is something special about someone discovering a place to serve and deciding, “I think I'll stay.”

Rhianna, we're glad you're here, and we're grateful for the time, energy, and helping hands you bring to the Pantry.

On behalf of everyone at The Village Food Pantry, we wish you a **very Happy Birthday** and look forward to having you as part of our Pantry family for many Mondays to come!

Please join us in wishing **Rhianna a Happy Birthday!**

**VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT & HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JOYCE!**

Today, The Village Food Pantry is pleased to recognize one of our longtime volunteers, **Joyce**, and wish her a very Happy Birthday!

Joyce has been part of our Pantry family for several years, faithfully giving her time and helping us serve our neighbors week after week. Over the years, she has become one of those familiar faces who represents the heart of what The Village Food Pantry is all about—people giving their time to help others.

Volunteers like Joyce are an important part of everything we can accomplish. The hours they give, the work they do, and most importantly, their willingness to continue showing up make a difference in the lives of the individuals and families we serve.

Joyce, on your special day, we want you to know how much we appreciate the years you have given to The Village Food Pantry and our community. We are grateful to have you as part of our Pantry family.

Please join us in wishing **Joyce a very Happy Birthday!**

**Happy Birthday, Joyce, and thank you for all that you do! ****
