New Melle VFW 1st Annual Mouse Races October 17

The New Melle VFW Post 5651 and the auxiliary are hosting their 1st Annual Mouse Races on Saturday, October 17, at 555 Foristell Rd. The VFW welcomes the public, but attendees must be 21 or older.

ATTENTION, MEMBERS:
VFW Auxiliary National Line Officers will NEVER email you asking for your financial/banking information, to purchase gift cards, to wire them money, to complete ACH transfers or to make donations to them directly. These are SCAMS.

If you receive an email from a Line Officer that seems suspicious, first check to make sure that the email address of the person reaching out exactly matches their email address in the Directory. Look for tricks, like a capital i (I) used instead of an l (lower case L) in words like Auxiliary (AuxiIiary looks just like Auxiliary, doesn't it? But that first one has an upper case i/I instead of a lower case l/L). Additionally check for any misspellings of the Line Officer's name or a suspicious email service provider.
Any time you are asked for money, gift cards or banking information via email, social media, text message or other electronic means from anyone unexpected, STOP. This is likely a scam.

To check, contact that person directly in person or by phone - not text - only at the number in MALTA and/or in your Directory (if the request seems to come from Headquarters or a National Line Officer, reach out to National Headquarters by telephone and we will route your call to the appropriate person).

In addition, it is now easier than ever to imitate someone's voice using AI. If someone claiming to be a National Line Officer calls you and asks for money or gift cards, this is NOT LEGIT. Do not give out your credit card or banking info over the phone. If this happens to you, hang up and call us at National Headquarters right away. National Line Officers will not ask you to send them cash, gift cards, checks, money orders or your banking information. These are SCAMS.

Lastly, please do NOT post photos of check donations online that show the bank account number and routing number on the bottom. It is not safe to share this information on the internet. Making a fake check is easier than it seems like it should be. Don't make yourself an easy victim!

You can visit the VFW Store any time via their website, www.vfwstore.org, and shop for whatever you need as a VFW Auxiliary member. They have shirts, scarves, stickers, patches, jewelry, brochures, bags, pins, luggage tags, hats, tumblers, special coins, uniform caps, pens, name tags, coloring books for kids, lanyards, grave markers, Auxiliary supplies, VFW tartan and more.

Best of all, they aren't dropping links in the comments on our posts advertising AI-generated imaging of low-quality "printed" t-shirts that may or may not actually exist on websites designed to steal and sell your personal data, including credit card information. That's what SCAMMERS do, and we have been bombarded by their spam posts this week, with thousands of comments left on our past posts dating back nearly a year. DO NOT CLICK ON THESE LINKS.
