A BIG SHOUTOUT to our community for your support at our monthly Community Breakfast. At our May breakfast we served 101 meals, getting close to our record attendance prior to the Covid pandemic!

Our breakfast profits support state and local charities. In the past we have supported Matamoras baseball and softball teams, Matamoras pool, Frontier High School athletic breakfast, Frontier sports, and local individuals who no need a helping hand. All this is made possible by your generous support for our Community Breakfast.

Saturday evening the Lodge announced our 2026 scholarship winners: Ethan Rinard, Aadin Bills, Madison Smith, and Gavin Sivard.

Thank you to our Order Eastern Star Chapter #261 for providing the dinner for our celebration, the Scholarship Committee's work of circulating our scholarship form to local schools and selecting our winners.

Brethren,
It is with sadness, but in the certainty of our resurrection to eternal life, I report to you Brother David Francis Cochran has died.

Brother David Francis Cochran was born on October 29th, 1942, at Trail Run, Ohio. He petitioned Matamoras #374 Free and Accepted Masons on August 11th, 1973, and was elected to membership on September 8th, 1973. He was initiated an Entered Apprenticeship on September 25th, 1973; passed to the degree of Fellow Craft on October 13th, 1973; and raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason on November 15th, 1973. He held the office of Junior Steward in 1974, and Tyler in 1976 and 1977. He laid down his working tools at Marietta, Ohio on May 2nd, 2026, at age 83 years, 6 months, 3 days. He was a Master Mason 52 years, 5 months, 17 days. The Brethren extend their deepest sympathy to the Cochran family.

Matamoras #374, Free and Accepted Masons, 301 Main Street, New Matamoras, OH is holding a community breakfast buffet, Saturday, May 2, 2026, 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. The breakfast includes scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, sausage gravy, hash browns, biscuits, pancakes, cinnamon roll, orange juice, and coffee. The public is invited to attend. Carry out is available. The suggested donation is $7 per person. Profits from the breakfast support Grand Lodge of Ohio Charitable Foundation, the Ohio Masonic Communities, and local charities.

The Scholarship Committee is having a dinner Saturday, May 2, 2026, 6 PM, to announce and recognize our 2026 scholarship winners, who will be accompanied by their parents. Lodge members are invited to attend! RSVPs must be to the Secretary no later than Wednesday, April 29, 2026.

Brethren,

I have been informed that the Grand View Communication System is experiencing problems and not all lodge communications are getting to everyone. Additionally, I have tried to use my email to send mass emails to the membership, and all the emails have been returned to me as undeliverable. The phone announcement system we used previously, was cutting off the message being sent if an answering machine picked up.

I have been using the "GroupMe app" for messaging. If you download the app and contact me for the link to the lodge account, you will be able to see our communications. We are looking at various systems other organizations us to communicate with their memberships and see if they is a viable option for us to use moving forward.
