Hello to all our legion family. Just some reminders of events coming up.
May 25-- Memorial Day Services will be held at northview cemetery at 10 am. Hope to see many there. Finishing up the day of services at the Wetzel County Wall Of Honor. The wall will have a very new look. It is in the process right now of getting a whole new wrap. Hope there is lots of people that want to come for this service for the grand viewing of our NEW Wall Of Honor.
June 1-- The American Legion Auxiliary will hold their monthly meeting at 6:30 at post home. These ladies work hard on youth programs, community programs, does things for our first responders, teachers, veteran programs, school programs, works hard for legion programs. Come & join in on the programs with these ladies.
June 2 -- Sons Of The American Legion will hold their monthly merting at 7pm at Post Home. They work very hard with work needed on Wall Deck,. With various legion programs. Come to meeting & see what you can do to help.
June 8 -- The American Legion will hold thier monthly meeting at 7pm at post home. There is so much work that the can done for youth, veterans & community but we need more coming out for meetings so plans can be made for these programs. Hope to see more coming out for meetings.
More On The Wall of Honor of Wetzel County-- YES it is for any veteran that lived in Wetzel County at the time of their service. All we need to add names is a copy of their DD214 for our file. After alot of hard work from legion, SAL, and auxiliary the rows on old wall was closely check for misspelling, duplicate listing of names, checking the names against DD214 in file for correction. Made sure all names that we had to be added on was on list also. After alot of work double checking things the final list that we turned in for NEW WALL SETUP was correct. After the New Wall is up and done. We will start a new list for names to be added on down the road. We will also have all the updated listing in Our wall book with the row # and position # by each name on the NEW WALL.
Also a very special thanks from all of POST # 28 FAMILY for the continued help & support on The Wall of Honor over the many years this wall was started. Any one that wants to support this wall can send any donation no matter how small to the post for depositing into The Wall Account. The upkeep of wall is monthly electric bill for the lighting on wall all year round, the cost of adding names on wall, and the future of wall if runs out of space on front then back wall would have to be fixed and deck continued around back side. You may want make a yearly donation or monthly or just a one time donation. There is so many families represented on this wall of over 4500 heros in our county.
