John Potter III Memorial Golf Classic

The JPIII Memorial Golf Classic is a charity event supporting the Frederick YMCA & the kids who love golf!

John was an avid golfer and loved everything about the game. I hope you will join us in supporting the Y and John's legacy in Frederick County! As an avid golfer, John loved everything about the game and what better way to share his legacy with the Frederick County community than to help future generations learn and enjoy the game of golf! Money raised from this tournament will install a State-of-

the-Art Golf Simulator at the YMCA, a first of its kind in Frederick County. The John Potter Golf Zone will be able to serve youth and adults alike in all seasons. The YMCA welcomes all children and their families because our communities are stronger when everyone can take part in programs where they can learn, grow, and thrive. TruGolf Simulators are state of the art with top of the line technology and over 100 of the top courses you can play! Truly an excellent way to stay healthy in body, mind, and spirit. IN ADDITION, an Endowment will be created in John's honor to scholarship children for Golf Camp in the Summer. Youth, age 8-14, learn basic golf skills in a fun camp where they experience putting, driving, rules, etiquette, and safety using the First Tee curriculum. There are golf tournaments . . . and then there’s the John Potter III Memorial Golf Tournament!

This day is about everything John loved — great golf, great friends, lots of laughs, and coming together to give back.

Every year, this tournament brings our community together for an incredibly fun day on the course, but the impact goes far beyond the scorecards. The funds raised help foster and grow golf opportunities for kids at the YMCA — introducing them to the game, teaching confidence, sportsmanship, and a lifelong love for golf.

It’s truly one of the best days of the year:

This year the John Potter Golf Simulator will be paid off and the overage proceeds will be used to buy junior golf clubs for kids that want to attend the Y's golf camp but cannot afford to purchase their own clubs. It gives all kids a chance to explore the game of golf!!
