Scott County 4-H is excited to welcome Clara Riley, our new YPA (Youth Program Associate) for Scott County! Clara is from Sikeston and is a life-long resident of Scott County. Clara loves horses, cows, goats, and geese, and she looks forward to sharing her experiences and love for the animals with the youth of Scott County. As a new YPA, Clara is most excited to work with youth and get them more involved in their communities. Please give a shout out and help us welcome Clara!

Attention all 4-H Youth showing Livestock!!

We are hosting an SMQA on May 15th at 6pm in the lower level of the Cape Girardeau County Extension Office. This is open to all of the Southeast Region.

The rules for SMQA state: anyone that is new to showing will need SMQA, anyone who did their first one last year will need one, and anyone that is 14 years old in 4-H years will need an SMQA. If you are not sure if you need SMQA ask your local 4-H staff or Alexis Link at the Cape County Extension Office.

All artwork that placed 1st through 3rd in the New Madrid County Youth Farm Animal Art Show have advanced to the Regional 4-H Youth Farm Art Show in Poplar Bluff, MO. The Artwork will be judged again at this level and awards will be displayed at the show and Ice Cream Social at the Margaret Harwell Museum on April 28th from 4-7 pm. All are invited to attend!

4-H Regional Youth Farm Animal Art Show 2026

Even if your school is not participating you still have time to enter individually! Just get your art ready then call or text Jennifer at 573-225-6218 to arrange for pickup or dropoff!

Display location: New Madrid County Extension Office
Cookies and punch reception: April 9th from 5 pm to 6:30 pm

Rules of Participation:
Artwork must be submitted to the County Extension Office by April 3, 2026.
One entry per student - must be original artwork.
Must depict a farm animal or farm scene.
Open to all students (public/private/homeschool) K-12.
Only 2-dimensional artwork accepted.
Media may be oils, watercolor, acrylics, ink, crayon, marker, or pencil.
No photography entries accepted for this show.
Must be mounted on light weight white or black poster or art board. (Examples of mounting are shown in the pictures attached.) Non-mounted art will not be displayed or eligible for prizes. Framed artwork is accepted.
Size must not exceed 18" x 24"

Awards at County Level:
First, Second & Third place at each grade level.
Honorable Mentions at each grade level.
One Best of Show per county.
Award Winners (1st – 3rd place) will advance to Regional Show in Poplar Bluff on April 28th.
(Award levels advancing may vary per county depending on county 4-H personnel discretion and number of participants.)
