Shine Bright Against Cancer is an annual awareness color run/walk held on the second Sunday in September to honor those who have fought, support those still fighting, and stand strong for future fighters of cancer. ❤️

Today is National Cancer Survivors Day and we want to honor the fighters, the survivors, and everyone who has walked that road.

Cancer touches nearly all of us in someway. 1 in 3 people in the U.S. will receive a diagnosis in their lifetime. It's a statistic that hits close to home for so many of us — because chances are, we know someone in that number.

That's what the Shine Bright Against Cancer Run/Walk is all about.

Every September, we take over Hatten Park for a morning of color, fun, and community and we're excited for this year's event! We're call all families, friends, and businesses to mark their calendars and join us, September 13, 2026 - to Shine Bright Against Cancer!

Whether you want to lace up your shoes and join us on the course, bring the whole family out for a morning of fun, or support us as a sponsor, there's a place for you!

The Shine Bright Against Cancer Color Run/Walk is coming up on September 13, 2026, and we are looking for community-minded businesses and individuals who want to make a difference.

When you sponsor the Shine Bright event, you're not just putting your name on an event — you're directly supporting people right here in our community. A portion of every dollar raised goes toward the Laura Turner Memorial Life Science Scholarship Fund through the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley, honoring a life well-lived and investing in the next generation of New London students.

A portion of proceeds will also go to Felicia Roddy, a member of our community facing a breast cancer diagnosis, to help ease the financial burden on her and her family during an incredibly difficult time.

Every year, we are reminded that cancer touches far too many lives in our community. Choosing one family to honor is never easy because behind every diagnosis is a story of courage and resilience that deserves to be celebrated. This year, we are honored to be running for Felicia.

In January 2026, Felicia Roddy, a wife, mom, and member of our New London community was diagnosed with breast cancer. She faced her diagnosis head-on, undergoing a double mastectomy and beginning a journey that no family is ever truly prepared for. Through it all, Felicia has shown the kind of courage that reminds us why we show up for one another.

This year, Shine Bright Against Cancer will donate a portion of our event proceeds to Felicia and her family as they navigate the road ahead. It's our way of wrapping this community around someone who deserves to know she is not walking this path alone.

Felicia, your strength is an encouragement to many and we are with you every step of the way. 🧡
