We are excited to announce that we are a Laptop ConneCT library!

The Public Library of New London is now accepting applications for Laptop ConneCT, a program that provides eligible Connecticut residents with a laptop and accessories for long-term use.

New London residents can complete an intake survey to determine eligibility. Qualified applicants will be invited to attend an orientation and skills training session before receiving a device.

Please note: Completing an application does not guarantee eligibility into the program. Applications will be reviewed to determine whether applicants meet the program requirements.

Today we recognize National HIV/AIDS and Aging Awareness Day — a time to honor the experiences, needs, and resilience of people aging with HIV.

As people with HIV live longer, this day reminds us that aging with HIV requires more than access to treatment. It means addressing whole-person health, combating stigma and isolation, strengthening support systems, and making sure older adults living with HIV remain visible, valued, and centered in the movement.

At NMAC, one way we honor that commitment is through our HIV 50+ Strong and Healthy Program, which creates space for people over 50 living with HIV to build community, strengthen their leadership, and engage in policy and professional development.

Their voices, experience, and advocacy continue to shape the future of the HIV movement.

It's hard to believe it's been 2 weeks since . The Overdose Action Team and NLC CARES was able to connect with folks in our area throughout the day, including our memorial service at Williams Park and Community Speaks Out Overdose Awareness Night at Ocean Beach.

We are incredibly grateful for the generous donation by Flanders Donut & Bake Shop to our event. The day is somber but made brighter by being together, including around a sweet treat.

----------

Ekip Aksyon Overdose la ak NLC CARES te kapab konekte ak moun nan zòn nou an pandan tout jounen an, tankou nan sèvis komemorasyon nou an nan Williams Park ak nan nwit sansibilizasyon sou overdose Community Speaks Out nan Ocean Beach.

Nou vrèman rekonesan pou donasyon jenere Flanders Donut & Bake Shop te fè pou evènman nou an. Jounen an tris men li vin pi klere lè nou ansanm, menm lè nou te gen yon ti bagay dous.

We will never forget this day, the unimaginable loss of life, the loved ones left behind, and those impacted by selfless actions in the aftermath.

From City of New London, Connecticut
In commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attack on our country on September 11, 2001, Mayor Michael Passero has asked the churches in New London to ring their bells at 8:46 Friday morning, the time that the first plane, American Airlines Flight 11, crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center in New York City.

Residents are asked to take a few minutes from their normal routine to remember the 2,977 victims who died on 9/11, including 343 New York City firefighters and 60 police officers. The victims included New London residents Ruth McCourt and her 4-year-old daughter Juliana. The McCourts were passengers on United Airlines flight 175 that crashed into the South Tower of the World Trade Center at 9:03 a.m.

Sixty-five Connecticut residents who died that day also included New London native Jim Tobin, Josh Piver of Stonington, and James A. Greenleaf, Jr. of Waterford.
