A peaceful early-morning visit to Otter Pond. The mist was slowly rising off of the still water, and the new vegetative plantings to help limit beach erosion, improve water quality, and reduce the likelihood of cyanobacteria blooms, look lush and seem to be growing in nicely. These 200+ plants and shrubs were planted by volunteers from the Otter Pond Protective Association, Lake Sunapee Protective Association, and Ausbon Sargent in late May. Almost 20 years ago, in December 2006, Dot Gordon gifted 7.8 acres to the Otter Pond Protective Association, including the Otter Pond Beach. How fortunate we all are that the beach is being maintained to protect its integrity and to protect the sensitive water bodies nearby.
