The new Military & Veterans Merit Badge is available in the test lab. The test lab is a great way to try out the proposed merit badges and give feedback and suggestions. Each test lab badge has a deadline to when you have to complete and submit your survey results. If the badge becomes official, you use your certificate of completion from the test lab and are awarded the new Merit Badge.

🎉 Exciting News for Scouting America New Hampshire! 🎉

The Executive Committee of Scouting America New Hampshire has formally endorsed and approved the Family Troop option for Scouts BSA.

This follows the National Executive Board’s approval of the Family Troop structure, effective December 15, 2025, after a successful national pilot demonstrating:

✔ Increased youth membership
✔ Stronger program delivery
✔ Higher satisfaction among youth, families, and volunteers
✔ Improved leader engagement and resource sharing

What This Means for Units & Families
Family Troops provide an additional option for chartered organizations—especially in communities where separate boys’ and girls’ troops may not be feasible. This option is not a replacement for single-gender troops, which continue to represent the majority of Scouts BSA units; it offers another way for families to participate in Scouting together.

Our Commitment
Scouting America New Hampshire will prepare and distribute clear guidance, training, and support materials to units and chartered organizations to ensure successful, consistent, and mission-aligned implementation.
