🌟✨Celebrating Acts of Kindness and Compassion! 🌟✨

Groton ROCKS (Recognizing Our Children for being Kind and promoting Safety) recently honored outstanding students at Charles Barnum Elementary School, Thames River Magnet School, and Catherine Kolnaski Magnet School. 🏫 This initiative, a collaboration between Children First Groton, Groton Public Schools, local police departments, the Naval Submarine Base, and the Department of Children and Families, aims to recognize young heroes among us. 🦸‍♂️🦸‍♀️

Selected by their teachers and school administration, these students exemplify kindness, compassion, and selflessness in their daily lives. 💖 From offering help to classmates in need to spreading joy and positivity wherever they go, they truly embody the spirit of Groton ROCKS. 🎉

Certificates and T-shirts were proudly presented to these extraordinary students at a heartwarming gathering attended by their families. 👏 Let's continue to celebrate and support these amazing young individuals as they inspire us all! ✨

Stay tuned for more inspiring moments as Groton ROCKS continues its mission on May 24. Together, let's spread kindness and make our community a brighter place! ☀️

Children First Groton Story

Children First Groton (CFG) began in 1999 through the Children First Initiative and was known as Groton’s Early Childhood Community Collaborative. As a recipient of a Discovery grant from the William Caspar Graustein Memorial Fund, the collaborative officially became Children First Groton. In collaboration with the Groton community, CFG designed and is implementing a Community Plan focusing on important issues in early childhood for Groton families. In 2016, the funding from William Caspar Graustein Memorial Fund ended, and Children First Groton began to write grants and work with the Town and City of Groton to fund all our initiatives. CFG Leadership also serves as Groton's School Readiness Council, overseeing the State and Federally funded preschool programs in our community.

CFG is comprised of early childcare providers, parents, service providers, librarians, health care providers, Groton Public Schools, Town Officials, and other persons interested in working on early childhood issues in the Groton community. The work is guided by the CFG Leadership group and is implemented through four work groups (Physical Health, Education, Mental Health, Safe/Strong Families, and Finance & Communications) and five Neighborhood Groups; all of whom are currently working from the town-wide Community Plan.
