🚨Fireworks Reminder | City of New Iberia 🚨
As we celebrate the New Year, the New Iberia Police Department would like to remind residents that fireworks are prohibited within the City of New Iberia, except for permitted public displays.
🚫 City Ordinance – Fireworks Are Prohibited
Under Article III, Section 30-63 of the City Code, it is unlawful for any person to:
-Possess, handle, use, set off, or shoot fireworks within city limits
-Possess fireworks with the intent to set them off
-Allow or encourage juveniles under the age of 17 to possess or use fireworks
This includes, but is not limited to:
🎆Firecrackers
🎆Roman candles
🎆Sky rockets
🎆Torpedoes
🎆Any similar fireworks
🎇 Public Displays
Fireworks are permitted only for approved public displays conducted with:
-A valid city permit
-A State Fire Marshal permit
-Proper fire-prevention plans and safety personnel
⚖️ Penalties
Violations of the fireworks ordinance may result in:
A fine of up to $500, up to six months in jail or both
Each day a violation occurs may be treated as a separate offense
