This year we are honoring local youth for their hard work and efforts in improving the quality of their lives and/or their community. We want to know who you think deserves this honor!

Some ideas of who to nominate:
- First-Generation College Student
- High school graduates who overcame the odds
- Youth who overcome daily struggles in their personal lives
- Stellar students
- Awarding winning youth (athletics, dance, the arts)
- Game changers, innovators, entrepreneurs
- Any youth you feel deserves some love and recognition for their hard work.

Deadline to submit nominations is June 3rd. One (1) nominee will be selected after all applications have been reviewed and considered. The receipient will be notified on June 7th and given the honor on June 14th at our Juneteenth Gala.

It's about that time! Juneteenth is on the way and you know we've got the weekend plans.

Friday, June 14th we will have our 4th Annual Juneteenth Gala. This year we are honoring Mr. Bill Russell Sr. and Ms. Pecola Volter for their work in the community. We will also honor our first Just A Kid Youth Honoree, introduce our 2024-25 Juneteenth Royal Court, and more.

Saturday, June 15th will be our parade and festival in the park. The parade starts at 3pm and will travel from John Hopkins Elementary, up Hopkins St., to the West End Park. In the park you'll be able to enjoy several activities, vendors, and the Pork Steak Cookoff.

Last night, GPAL had a great time at the Pelicans game. We took some of our participating youth to the game and the kids had the opportunity to spend some time on the court and meet the players!

This is one of many experiences that we plan on having for our kids. A special thank you to the New Orleans Pelicans for having us and Judge Roger Hamilton for providing us with the opportunity.

Looking for a fun Easter themed hunt? Look no further! Sign your children up for GPAL’s “Hunt For Your Life” Egg Hunt where participants will get prizes, good fun, and more!
