Built by Benjamin Parry in 1784, the Parry Mansion became home to the five generations of the Parry family and an important landmark celebrating nearly 250 years of American History. After one of his mills was destroyed by fire, Benjamin Parry rebuilt it and called it
the New Hope Mill, which gave name to the town of New Hope as we know it today. Margaret Parry Lang, the last surviving member of the Parry family sold the building to the New Hope Historical Society and it has become a museum, meticulously restored
to reflect the styles of the time past. This painting was inspired by the sense of timelessness and history which embraces you the minute you step inside of this building, but it was also inspired by the portrait of a young woman, Jane Paxson, the wife of Benjamin Parry, hanging on one of the walls. It is her features that you see here. I imagine, somewhere in time, it must have been like this, when at the end of the day it was the light of a candle or an oil lamp that illuminated the rooms, when there was time - time to listen to the silence, time to dream and to wonder, time - time to listen to the silence, time to dream and to wonder, time to be fully present in this moment of time called Life.
