Last night, our final gala, reminded me clearly that it was never about anything other than helping make these young people's lives a little easier so they could rise above their past and move beautifully into their futures. And they have done that!!

With thanks to every single person who helped. Volunteers at plant sales 13 years ago, donors with big check books, leaders with vision and determination, board members with patience, bartenders and band members and bar owners and ice cream, raffle ticket sellers, people who made center pieces, mentors who picked up the phone in the middle of the night, tailors who donated suits, homeowners who opened their homes. The list is endless.

Thanks to you all, these young adults are living lives with their own children, boyfriends, girlfriends, husbands, wives, have good life sustaining jobs, and a desire to give back. I know because I met them all again last night and it was extraordinary!

Seeds planted. Job done.

For years, you have been the "Family" that our Fellows needed. You have helped young adults navigate the transition from foster care to successful, independent lives. Thank you for your contribution in changing the trajectory of these Fellows lives.

Today, we are sharing a significant update: The R.J. Leonard Foundation will be concluding its operations in 2026. While this marks the end of an era for our volunteer-led organization, our commitment to our current Fellows remains as strong as ever. We are moving forward with our Annual Gala on February 13th, 2026 at The Union League Golf Club at Torresdale, and we want you there for our most important night yet.

Why this Gala matters more than ever: We aren’t just looking back. We are looking forward for our Fellows. We are dedicated to ensuring that every current Fellow has their tuition and career objectives fully funded before we close our doors.

The Goal: To close the gap between the Foundation’s remaining funds and our Fellows' final tuition bills.

The Impact: Your presence and support will ensure a Fellow earns that Master’s degree, certification or has the fundamentals to excel in their fresh career.

We have an important update regarding our event originally scheduled for November 7th.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have made the decision to postpone the event. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Philadelphia, Bucks, and Montgomery County businesses, we need your help! The R.J. Leonard Foundation's annual Chips for Change Gala is happening on Friday, November 7, 2025, and we are seeking silent auction donations from our generous community partners.

Chips for Change is a vital fundraiser that directly supports young adults aging out of the foster care system in our area. Your donation of a themed gift basket helps us provide these Fellows with scholarships, mentorship, and the tools they need to build successful, independent lives.

How your business can help:

Donate a themed basket (e.g., a "Taste of Philly" gourmet basket, a "Spa Day" package, or a gift certificate bundle).
