Cub Scouts Pack 148 of New Holland, PA Cub Scout Pack 148 is located New Holland, PA. It is part of the Susquehanna District in the Pennsylvania Dutch Council. New members are welcome at any time.

We are an active, year-round program, with boys and girls in Kindergarten through fifth grade.

Last night our scouts were BUSY celebrating America’s 250th birthday 😍🧁

We started our meeting with a virtual tour of Pottsgrove Manor and some homemade apple crisp (recipe from the 1700s!).
The pack was then broken up into rotating groups of 2 or 3:

1. Time Capsule - our pack will be burying a time capsule in New Holland to be opened in 50 years!
2. Service project - our pack’s goal is to donate 100 cards for soldiers serving abroad through Holiday Card Challenge https://www.facebook.com/share/g/17Vs3AL3DN/?mibextid=wwXIfr
3. Creative - games of the 1700s and making their own butter!

Each scout was a hardworking team player and their parents were super involved in getting set up, cleaned up, and every step in between!

✨✨ Our scouts have enjoyed perfect weather as they learn about our nation’s capital!

Some things they saw:
• Famous gravesites of: Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Joe Louis, John F Kennedy and his family
• Changing of the guard and a wreath laying
• The Lee family home
• Monuments for USS Maine, Challenger and Columbia, Civil War Unknown soldier, Sir John Dill and more!
• Japanese Cherry Blossoms beginning to bloom!

We ended the day at the National Air & Space Museum in DC. 🛩️🛩️

Scouts and their families are EXTREMELY grateful to those that supported our adventure through fundraisers or donations. This has been an EXCEPTIONAL day and we are so grateful.

Our pack is working on completing the patch pictured and we would like to have someone come do a live demo and let the boys work on butter churning and/or candle making next Monday from 7-8p in New Holland

The goal is to teach our scouts what life was like in the late 1700s so I’m open to other ideas - they’re 6-10yr old though so hands on is a must!

Pack nights are built for bonding and learning, so tonight we had both!
Mr. Dan taught tent building
Mr. Mike taught plant safety
Mr. Dan Griggs taught fire safety
Mr. Ryan taught knot making
Mr. John taught orienteering (compass use!)
