The Yale Cancer Center (YCC) Community Advisory Board (CAB) gathered from across Connecticut to celebrate a year of progress in reducing the state's cancer burden. Highlights included expanded member input on research and programs, strengthened community engagement through the Yale Cancer Center Community Outreach and Engagement website, outreach tracking, and the Social Media Influencer Project. Members also shared ideas for YCC's next strategic planning cycle, and we welcomed incoming Co-Chairs Teri Carson (Carson Cancer Coalition) and Shantana Hazel (Sister Girl Foundation) thanks to outgoing Co-Chairs Alycia Santilli and Melissa Lang.

Our team was happy to support ManCave New Haven’s Health and Wellness Day on June 13th with local community partners and PHEN. Attendees received information and resources on prostate cancer and colorectal cancer screening. Special thanks to Pastor Kevin Hardy for organizing and to Dr. Veda Giri's PREVAIL study team for sharing information about their efforts to improve access to genetic testing for African American men

COE Director, Dr. Tracy Battaglia, presented at the Internal Medicine Research Grand Rounds on Action-Oriented, Pragmatic Research: Patient Navigation and Access to Cancer Care. Her session focused on strategies to improve access to cancer care through patient-centered, collaborative research.

We were proud to attend the 3rd Annual Knowledge and Wellness Fair in New Haven organized by Community Action Agency of New Haven (CAANH)!

The YCC COE team shared cancer education and awareness materials with community members. Opportunities to connect with community members are always valuable and provide us with an opportunity to promote health, education, and well-being.
