Earlier this week, we celebrated  to honor the clinical research professionals, patients, and caregivers who help advance medical science and bring new treatments to the world.

Clinical trials are built on hope — hope for better treatments, earlier detection, longer survivorship, and ultimately, cures. That hope becomes reality because of the important work accomplished every day.

Please enjoy a few screenshots from a video created by the Yale Cancer Center Clinical Trials Office in celebration of their team!

We are still feeling inspired after attending the 2026 SoCOE (Science of Community Outreach and Engagement) Conference in Detroit! Speakers, including other COE leaders and staff, researchers, and patient and community advocates, shared best practices in strengthening community outreach, advancing equity in cancer research, and sustaining meaningful partnerships. Community Members such as YCC's Community Advisory Member, Teri Carson, attended Community and Patient Master Cancer Advocate Training. We are ready to move collaborative cancer outreach and engagement forward together!

Check out this amazing story about Sisters' Journey Inc.!

Since 2014, a unique community initiative has been meeting women where they are – inside trusted neighborhood spaces like salons, bookstores and local businesses – to talk openly about breast health and lifesaving screenings.

Led in partnership with Sisters' Journey Inc. and Yale New Haven Health, these informal “beauty salon chats” aim to reduce long-standing health disparities affecting African American women by making education and access to care more approachable and accessible.

“At Sisters’ Journey, our goal has always been to meet the community where they are,” said Dawn Bracey-White, president of Sisters’ Journey. “By bringing these conversations into familiar, trusted spaces, we are helping to diminish the health disparities that continue to exist among African American women.”

The Yale Cancer Center Community Outreach & Engagement team was honored to attend the American Cancer Society Women Leading the Way to Wellness Luncheon with community partners including Sister-Girl Foundation Inc-Empowering Women with Endometriosis and Cancer

This inspiring event highlighted the importance of cancer prevention, early detection, survivorship, and continued investment in cancer research, especially during a time when federal funding priorities continue to shift. Events like this remind us how critical community-led philanthropy and advocacy are to advancing health equity and supporting lifesaving research for future generations.

Thank you to the American Cancer Society, Sister Girl Foundation, and the powerful honorees and speakers who shared their stories of resilience, healing, and hope.
