Testing the quality of the water in the sound is something we do everyday as we learn how to be good stewards of our water ways.
This year, one of our new programs for our Sea Stewards written by a grad student at UNH in conjunction with Schooner called, What and who is on the harbor. What businesses are on the harbor, how do they impact the water ways, how does the community benefit from these businesses, etc.

Schooner starts in 6 days for our 51st year! See you there.

Learning to capsize is part of sailing. We learn this the first few days of camp. How to get safety back into the boat, make sure we are safe and confident in the water and of course, wearing life jackets. All part of learning to sail. Schooner starts on June 22. That's 7 sleeps if you are counting.

Josh was a camper, junior counselor and now on sailing staff. Josh teaches us not only safe sailing and team work but also teaches fishing. Here's to a successful summer at Schooner. 9 days to go!

Days at camp are filled with exploration and sailing. Once per session, we have a special event afternoon. Carnival games, shark day, crab day, wacky sports,pirate day and big games day just to name a few.
1 week till session 1 begins. That's 10 more sleeps for those counting. See you at camp!

Time for camp! Session 1 starts in 2 weeks. At the helm of the whaler is Olivia, whom will be our environmental specialist and Eli who will be our sailing director. They both are celebrating their 5th year with Schooner. Bring on camp. We're ready

Schooner open house on Sunday June 7 from11 am to 2 pm during Sound Schools Waterfront fest! We will be located at the sailing area at Anderson. Meet the staff, have a tour, meet other campers and hear what exciting programs we offer. Fishing is one of them. Yes, we catch and release.

In 16 days, a few of these campers on this boat will become first year Schooner staff. Coming as a camper, then junior counselor, now staff, they have come full circle. Sound School students and grads also come to work with us over the summer. These are the fun makers of summer. Their hard work, dedication, love of the coast and desire to share these experiences with our campers is top notch.

25 days left till Schooner 2026 begins! Join us in coastal exploration and search for what lives in the sound. Never know what you will find! Maybe that long lost croc from 2022......or glasses or a cell phone or.....whatever else has been lost at sea......most likely crabs, starfish, plankton (probably not spongebob) clams, horseshoe crabs, and a variety of plant life.
