“The more clearly we can focus our attention on the wonders and realities of the universe about us, the less taste we shall have for destruction.” -Rachel Carson
Today, NHCM’s book club met outside the Beinecke Library for a deep discussion on the first three chapters (and a bit beyond) of marine biologist, environmentalist, and writer Rachel Carson’s most famous work, Silent Spring. We enjoyed some food and crafts, and also explored the exhibition on Carson on the second floor of the library. Carson’s scientific yet poetic voice is extremely powerful, and we recommend her writings to all! 📖🌿
