📢 Important Update from Hartford Lending Hands Inc.

It has recently come to our attention that we forgot to update our phone number on some of our public listings. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Here are our current program updates:

🧡 Hardship Program: We do not have funding at this time, so this program is currently not operating.

🥫👕 Community Closet (Food & Clothing Pantry): Open every Monday from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

🎄 Christmas Help Program: Applications open September 9 at 9:00 AM and close November 5 at 5:00 PM.

📅 Office Hours: We are open by appointment only Tuesday through Friday.

Hartford Lending Hands Inc. had an amazing time today at the Community Service Fair at Branford High School!

It was such a great experience connecting with the students. They were very engaged, asked thoughtful questions, and were truly open to hearing about the volunteer opportunities we offer.

We’re excited about the interest in our Volunteer Leadership Program and look forward to welcoming new volunteers who want to gain experience while helping families in need across Connecticut.

Thank you to Branford High School for having us — we truly appreciate the opportunity and hope to be back again!

Hartford Lending Hands Inc. is now accepting applications for our Volunteer Leadership Program.

Hartford Lending Hands Inc. is a New Haven-based grassroots nonprofit organization serving families across Connecticut since 2013, and we are looking for individuals who want to make a difference while gaining hands-on nonprofit experience.

This opportunity is ideal for people who want to build real-world skills that can strengthen their resumes while helping families in need.

Volunteer opportunities include:

• Client Support / Office Volunteer
• Social Media Volunteer
• Community Outreach Volunteer
• Program Support Volunteer
• Fundraising & Events Volunteer

Some roles may be completed remotely, while others require in-person support at our New Haven office 2–3 times per week.

Because we are a grassroots organization, volunteers play a vital role in helping us continue to serve families across Connecticut.

Volunteers receive training and hands-on nonprofit experience and may receive professional references after completing their volunteer commitment.

We ask volunteers to commit to a minimum of 6 months so they can gain meaningful experience.

If you are passionate about helping your community while gaining experience that can support future employment opportunities, we encourage you to apply.

This opportunity is especially helpful for individuals who are currently job searching, changing careers, or looking to gain hands-on experience they can add to their resume. Volunteers who complete their commitment may receive professional references to support future employment opportunities.

Community Closet Is Open Today 🥫👕

Hartford Lending Hands Inc.’s Community Closet is open today (Monday) for food and clothing assistance.

🕙 Hours: 10:00 AM – 4:30 PM
⏸ Lunch Break: 1:00 PM – 1:30 PM
📍 191 DeLauro Dr, Unit E, New Haven, CT

Please bring:
• Valid ID
• Proof of income (example: benefits award letter or last 2 pay stubs dated within the past 90 days)
• Be prepared to fill out an application on site

Walk-ins welcome. Families are served in order.

Hartford Lending Hands Inc. provides emergency hardship assistance when funds are available. Payments go directly to landlords and utility companies — never to individuals.
Our hardship fund is critically low.

This is not about the holidays.

This is about preventing homelessness.
