Last Thursday, NHFT delegates and union members, representing Coop, Hill Central, and Hillhouse attended the 109th Annual Greater New Haven NAACP Freedom Fund Dinner. It was a powerful and inspiring night where NHPS students received scholarships and Rev. Sharon Arline-Bradley, NCNW President, motivated all attendees to prepare for the hard work ahead of protecting our right to vote and our democracy.

NHFT is proud to partner with the Greater New Haven NAACP aa we continue to organize and mobilize for necessary civic engagement efforts in the months and years ahead.

Today's early dismissal was a source of both relief and frustration for teachers, staff, students, and families across the district.

The bottom line is too many of our schools have HVAC systems that are non-functioning or undermaintained, leading to unsafe conditions in our schools.

Sign and share this petition! Join us as we call on the Board of Education to do the following:

1. Establish a maximum safe temperature for classrooms and schools in New Haven

2. Create and post a publicly accessible spreadsheet that outlines the status of each school building's HVAC system, as well as timelines for repairs, maintenance, and other relevant updates.

3. Increase capital funding for HVAC repairs and prioritize a more sustainable source of funding for HVAC maintenance to ensure that our schools, our students, and our staff are safe.
