The Yale African Students Association stands in solidarity with No Fail Yale and student groups in pursuit of a Universal Pass for classes in the current semester.
The current global environment has necessitated a shift in instruction that negates attempted equalizing effects that result from being on a college campus. A large number of students, and a considerable section of our membership, find themselves having to account for instabilities that will affect their academic performance this semester.
Maintaining a grade system fails to recognize students’ realities. Opt-in systems offer choice only to those who can afford choice. A Universal Pass system is the only way we can move closer to equity in academic experience.
