Did you know today is DAF Day? It is a national philanthropic effort that encourages people with donor-advised funds (DAFs) to recommend grants to nonprofits like NHR. Many of our donors choose to give through donor-advised funds, and we are grateful for the impact of those gifts every day.

This year, we had a fantastic summer session with a very high number of students. This talented group of college students ensured that we were able to tutor more students and offer a broad variety of enrichment clubs. They jumped into this job with lots of enthusiasm. Book Bridge deliveries have begun! We delivered books to two Kindergarten classes at Helen Street School in Hamden. Each student received 2-3 books and the teachers received books for their classroom library.

In September, NHR celebrated by having our students create paper links when they finished a book. These are some of the links from our Willow Street location, along with some of our students’ favorite books.
