Happy 15 Days After Juneteenth! CT29th showed out — 200 kids in our basketball tourney, esports champs crowned, scholarships awarded, vendors booming, and our culture and legacy front and center. Now that’s how you celebrate freedom. 💛❤️💚🖤

We hope to have made them proud:

They marched in wool and weathered boots,
Bore arms though the law barely called them men.
The Connecticut 29th Regiment —
Black soldiers, bold hearts — who bled for a freedom
they might never fully taste.

But they dreamed of us.
Of a day when our joy would not be questioned,
When our presence would not need permission.
And so we, their direct descendants,
stood today in the very soil they fought to claim.

🖤 We kicked the weekend off Friday night in elegance and joy; basking in the excellence that runs through our veins

Then on Saturday, the libations were poured, the beat of the drums pumped up the vibe and:

❤️Over 200 young athletes soared on the court —
laughter, hustle, teamwork echoing louder than any chains ever could.

💚Two brilliant young women dominated our ESports Tournament —
unapologetically Black, bold, and brilliant.

💛Families from Dixwell to Newhallville stopped by for care and connection —
health screenings, storytelling, games, and pride.

🖤Twelve performers lifted their voices and moved the crowd.

❤️Vendors built bridges — not just sales, but legacy.

💚And a deserving student received a scholarship,
a promise passed from generation to generation.

This wasn’t just a festival weekend.
It was a living offering.
A love letter to the legacy that birthed us.

Juneteenth New Haven is not just a celebration.
It is ancestral work —
curated, carried, and claimed
by the direct descendants of the men who fought
so we could gather,
thrive,
and be free.
