Our Under-Secretary General of Business, Nick, is a first-year from the best city in America: Chicago, Illinois. He is considering majoring in Global Affairs, Statistics & Data Science, Political Science, and/or Economics, so essentially has no idea. Last summer, Nick interned at the Chicago Transit Authority where he pretended to be competent in Python and Java (was eventually exposed and relegated to verifying data and making “aesthetic” user interfaces for the rest of the summer); conducted photo shoots with different airlines and hotels; ate his way through Chicago (has he mentioned that he’s from Chicago yet?); and jumped one too many times into Lake Michigan. At Yale, you can find Nick pretending to be a MBA student while studying at the Yale School of Management, doing odd tasks as part of the Yale Daily News Business Team, teaching New Haven high school students through YIRA’s Hemispheres program, and writing for The Yale Globalist.

Introducing the Virtual IRSY 2020 Secretariat:

Dora is a first-year hailing from Allen, Texas, a suburb of Dallas and is so excited to serve as Under-Secretary General of Branding and Technology this year. If anyone knows what she should major in, please come tell her during the conference. Over the summer, Dora intensively studied Mandarin Chinese and interned at a historic house/art museum, serving as the tech support, the PR team, a tea server, a secretary, a children’s book illustrator, and a tour-guide (No, the internship was not paid). At Yale, you can find Dora water-color painting Silliman, her residential college, or designing for the Yale College Council as their sole graphic designer. She also served as the Assistant Secretary General of Branding for Yale Model United Nations this year. She is super excited to see everyone at the conference this year; give a shout if you see her!

Introducing the Virtual IRSY 2020 Secretariat:

Our Under-Secretary General of Curriculum, Natalie, is a first-year in Silliman College from Hong Kong. She is thinking about majoring in History, English, or Political Science. In her free time, Natalie enjoys taking photographs, writing articles for the Yale Daily News, and decimating her friends at a multitude of board games. She spent this past summer working as an intern for a newspaper in Hong Kong and trying to convince a small group of third graders that she is a somewhat competent English tutor. The verdict on that was a resounding no. At Yale, you can find Natalie getting ghosted by her sources for YDN articles, scrolling through twitter as a communications intern at the equity research and innovation center, and tearing her hair out in the depths of Bass library because she cannot figure out how to solve economics problem sets. She is also this year’s Secretary-General for the World Scholar’s Cup. If you see Natalie on campus, come and say hi!

Introducing the Virtual IRSY 2020 Secretariat:

Sandhya is a first-year in Saybrook College from Rochester, Minnesota and a Co-USG of Conference. She is considering majoring in global affairs, political science, or the history of science, medicine, and public health (and occasionally considers becoming pre-med). Over the summer, Sandhya road tripped with friends 22 hours to Banff, Canada where she discovered the gift that is Tim Hortons. She also spent lots of time dedicated to baking and watching Grey’s Anatomy with her sister. Since coming to campus, she’s gotten involved in YIRA, in the Lowenstein Human Rights Project, and dances with Yale Rangeela. When she’s not doing her work, she can be heard in the dining halls passionately defending her habit of drinking milk 2-3 times a day (because it is delicious and healthy). She’s looking forward to an incredible conference, and feel free to say hi if you see her!

Introducing the Virtual IRSY 2020 Secretariat:

On of our Co-Under Secretaries General of Conference, Lucy Kim is a first-year student from Los Angeles, California. She is considering a major in Global Affairs and is currently (note; currently) a premed student. In her free time, she likes to watch the squirrels fighting on Old Campus outside her window. Lucy loves the beautiful rooms in Sterling Library, but is terrified of the stacks and what mysterious things happen there. On campus, Lucy is involved in a variety of activities that she’d love to talk to you about. She is a member of the Yale International Relations Association in different capacities, such as organizing IRSY to competing on the Model UN team, and is involved with a variety of clubs regarding her interest in politics, Asian-American heritage, and science.
