This Father’s Day, we’re celebrating one of Elena’s Light’s biggest supporters, Ahmad 🧡 You might know him as the husband of Elena’s Light founder, Fereshteh, but to our community, he’s so much more.

From showing up behind the scenes to supporting our work and his family, his kindness reminds us that building community is a collective effort.

Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers and father figures who help our community shine!✨

In honor of World Refugee Day, we’re looking back at our Youth Speaker Lab and the powerful writing created by refugee and immigrant teens in our community ✍️🧡

They remind us that every story deserves to be heard.

Today, we celebrate the creativity and courage of refugee and immigrant youth, and we remain committed to uplifting their stories every day.

These sessions were held in collaboration with , guided by incredible facilitators .sorourian, Tabitha Sookdeo (), Sara Miller, Farian Rabbani () & Dr. Ali Tarokh.

A huge thanks to all our staff, donors, and volunteers. We can’t do this work without you!

Advocacy is a core part of our mission 📢 so we were thrilled to head to Washington, DC to be part of Refugee Council USA (RCUSA) Advocacy Days!

Our founder, Fereshteh Ganjavi, joined over 300 community leaders from across the country to advocate for refugee and newcomer safety in the US, while amplifying the importance of investing in organizations like Elena’s Light who serve immigrant families ✨

Being surrounded by so many passionate leaders was a reminder that advocacy creates change. S/O to Chaitanyaa and Sami, from our team, who were also part of these efforts 🧡

🚨 Since the Taliban’s return to power in 2021, Afghanistan has become one of the most dangerous places in the world for women and girls.

We are heartbroken by the continued violence, including recent arrests related to dress code enforcement, crackdowns at protests, and erasure of women’s rights, freedoms, and opportunities 💔

At Elena’s Light, we believe every woman deserves the opportunity to learn, thrive, and belong. As we support refugee and immigrant women here in Connecticut, we remain in solidarity with Afghan women and girls everywhere.

Today. Tomorrow. Always. 🧡

The future of STEM belongs to everyone 🔬

This spring, students in our Youth STEM Lab explored science through hands-on projects, learning how to build circuits, create microscopes, and discover how the world around them works.

⚡️For many refugee and immigrant youth, hands-on learning can help bridge language barriers and make STEM education more accessible, engaging, and fun.

A special thank you to Blossom Hill Foundation & Science United Project and our incredible instructors for helping make this program possible.

We can’t wait to see what these young scientists create next💡

In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, our Health Intern, Nelicia, is sharing three simple ways to slow down and care for your mental well-being, inspired by lessons from our health classes 💙

☀️ Step outside for a few moments. Fresh air and a change of scenery can help reset your mind. It doesn’t have to be a park or green space. Even a short walk outside can make a difference.

🗣️ Talk to a friend or loved one. You don’t need to have all the answers. Try focusing on what you’re feeling in the moment and give yourself permission to share those emotions.

🫁 Practice box breathing. When life feels overwhelming, this simple breathing technique can help calm your mind and bring you back to the present moment.

Small steps can have a big impact. Which of these tips helps you slow down and recharge?

✨ We’ll always have a seat for everyone at the table, especially our refugee and immigrant neighbors.

We believe the strongest solutions come from collaboration, and we’re grateful to work alongside incredible leaders, partners, and clients to create meaningful change together 🫶🏽
