Yale LGBTQ Center

Yale LGBTQ Center News, events and updates from the Yale LGBTQ Center The Office of LGBTQ Resources provides support and services for all LGBTQ members of the Yale community.

Our office functions as a central source of information about queer life at Yale and offers one-on-one meetings with individuals or groups to discuss ideas, concerns or any aspect of the LGBTQ experience at Yale. Our services begin with first-year students, who benefit from the experience and training of our undergraduate Peer Liaisons. Our Queer Leadership Roundtables allow LGBTQ campus leaders t

o network and collaborate. We also develop and facilitate trainings, orientations and discussions on LGBTQ issues across campus. As co-sponsor of numerous events across campus, including Trans/Awareness Week and Pride @ Yale, we help foster a lively, diverse and welcoming climate for all members of the Yale community. Additionally, the GALA Summer Fellowships for summer internships at non-profits and Wallace-Sexton Travel Fellowships to attend the NGLTF Creating Change Conference allow students to expand their experiences working to improve lives in our community and beyond.

We’re honored to be a beneficiary of Elton John Impact Awards – celebrating the changemakers who are redefining culture and uplifting the LGBTQ+ community. 🌈

Because of this support and visibility from The Elton John Impact Awards, and The Looking Out Foundation, the Yale LGBTQ Center is able to expand our Stonewall Library and material resources to support students and employees at Yale and beyond.

This year’s honorees – including Jonathan Bailey, Laverne Cox, Melissa Etheridge, Billie Jean King, Orville Peck and Chappell Roan – have driven change, shaped culture and made a positive impact on society.

Come join us for a fireside chat with Dr. West Montgomery!

Dr. Westley Montgomery is a performance theorist who works on trans studies, Black cultural studies, and sound and technology. Montgomery’s current project, tentatively titled Technologies of Transition: Race, Gender, and the Voice in Performance, explores how Black and trans artists use sound technologies to challenge the material conditions of their oppression. Montgomery’s writing can be found in Theatre Journal and Transgender Studies Quarterly. Other scholarly interests include social media and streaming performance, Japanophilia in African American culture, and opera pedagogies and the construction of somatic difference. Pitaziki will be served!
