Restaurant Rescue Project at Yale

Restaurant Rescue Project at Yale RRP aims to combat local hunger and food waste by partnering with local restaurants and markets to transport food to soup kitchens and shelters.

The Restaurant Rescue Project seeks to reallocate food waste and combat local hunger through student-driven initiatives, with a focus on community integration and sustainable engagement. Through a network of donors and receivers, the student-run system works to combat food waste on a community level. The project partners with local restaurants, grocery stores, and supermarkets, which donate usable

food that would otherwise be wasted. Student volunteers operate regular shifts and transport food from these donors to receiving facilities, including soup kitchens, halfway houses, and shelters.

RUNNER OF THE WEEK: Washakie Tibbetts

Washakie is a sophomore in Berkeley from Monterey, California, interested in History, Political Science, and Star Wars!
Favorite Food: Hash Browns
Favorite Restaurant: Marco Polo Pizza
Why he joined RRP: "I wanted to join a service group and I like taking walks, so RRP was a perfect fit. It's a nice feeling that a simple 30-minute walk means that food will end up on a hungry person’s plate rather than in the garbage. Exploring New Haven is a plus and I also enjoy getting to know my run partners, who are great."

Thanks Washakie for your commitment to RRP!
