Progreso Latino Fund

Progreso Latino Fund The Progreso Latino Fund is a component fund of The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven. We strive for positive change for Latinos in our community.

The Progreso Latino Fund (PLF) was founded by two community activists, Frances and John Padilla. They knew the facts. They saw how fast the Latino community was becoming an important demographic in Greater New Haven. They saw the need for a new source of philanthropy, focused on the special issues of this emerging "majority minority." The Padillas chose The Community Foundation for Greater New Hav

en as their financial and development partner. The Community Foundation was established with a bequest in 1928 and today is known for its deep involvement in urgent community issues. An independent advisory committee picked exclusively from within the Latino community guides the actions of PLF. The Fund is a "permanently endowed" fund, which means it will last forever and never stop doing good.

Join the Comadres Corner: What's your reaction to the webinar "Latina Leadership Unfiltered: Strength, Culture and Systemic Truth Context"? What conversations did it inspire, and what insights have you brought back into your own life?

ICYMI: On Oct. 1, Latina leaders across sectors gathered to share their stories, and to reflect on systemic barriers and supports. How can biculturalism contribute to a fuller sense of connection and belonging? And how can challenges around access and discrimination be reframed and redressed?

In this clip, panelists Fany DeJesús Hannon and Liany E. Arroyo talk about the power of “calling on the village.”
