Today, we had the honor of celebrating excellence, perseverance, and the bright futures ahead of four outstanding young scholars. Through our annual Scholarship Luncheon, the Sorors of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., Iota Chi Sigma Alumnae Chapter proudly awarded scholarships to help support these high-achieving students as they begin their college journeys.

Congratulations to our scholarship recipients—your hard work, dedication, and resilience have not gone unnoticed, and we are excited to see all that you accomplish in this next chapter.

A special thank you to our keynote speaker, Tina Bennett, Chief Experience Officer at Yale New Haven Health, for sharing such inspiring words of wisdom and encouragement. We are also grateful to the Wilbur Cross High School Jazz Ensemble for providing wonderful entertainment and helping make the afternoon even more memorable.

Scholarship is one of the cornerstones of our sorority, and we are proud to continue investing in the next generation of leaders.

🎾💙 The Iota Chi Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. recently partnered with New Haven's King Robinson School for an inspiring tennis clinic at the North Haven Health & Racquet.

This spring event was the exciting next step after January’s volunteer coach training, where participants prepared to bring tennis to local students through hands-on clinics 🙌

This series of workshops is made possible by a 2025 USTA Micro-Grant.

✨ By the numbers:
🎾 31 aspiring student-athletes
💙 12 dedicated volunteer Sorors
🍎 4 supportive teachers
🤝 4 active community members
👏 51 total participants

“The students’ confidence as players grew, and so did our Sorors’ confidence as coaches! We will return to North Haven Racquet Club in May, and we are all looking forward to it. What an awesome opportunity to receive funding from USTA. The support from USTA New England and Mavi Sanchez-Skakle is greatly appreciated," said retired school principal Mia Duff, who is leading the initiative.

The debate we didn’t know we needed. 🤭💙💛

We asked our Sorors one simple question:
✨ EE-YIP or SHA POODLE? ✨

So now we’re asking YOU:
Which side are you on? 👀👇

RESET & REFOCUS: A Men’s Wellness Day Recap

This past Saturday, the Iota Chi Sigma Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. proudly partnered with the New Haven Public Schools Family, Youth & Community Engagement Department and CT Men’s Conference to host RESET & REFOCUS: A Men’s Wellness Day at King Robinson School.

Designed as a safe, uplifting, and empowering space, the event brought together men from across our community to focus on what matters most—mind, body, purpose, and brotherhood. Attendees engaged with licensed therapists, health and wellness professionals, trainers, financial and life coaches, and community leaders who shared valuable tools and resources to support overall well-being.

From meaningful conversations and personal reflection to practical strategies for physical, mental, and financial health, the day served as a reminder that prioritizing wellness is a sign of strength. Together, we created an environment where men could reset, refocus, and leave feeling encouraged to continue investing in themselves and their futures.

A special thank you to our partners, presenters, volunteers, and every participant who made this event impactful. Your willingness to show up, engage, and support one another helped make the day a success.

Strong men. Healthy minds. Brighter futures. 💙💛
